I like Swatch time! I like having widgets with it and stuff, but theres one thing it's lacking! While swatch times are always consistent despite timezones, your dates are tied to your timezone!
This could easily be solved by syncing up the date to the timezone swatch is based on, but thats no fun, plus, having a local date and a UTC+1 date doesn't look too appealing.
What we need to do... is to invent a new calendar! :ozwomp:
Wouldn't that be lovely? Our very own calendar? I do wonder what an alternative calendar system would look like.
There would need to be some unique system, to make it feel less like a normal date, it must be experiential. We should try to make it compliment swatch time as well, in some way!
Just an idea I had after seeing the page with the Eternal September calendar again.

There actually almost is one - Swatch Time is really just a y2k rebranding of decimal time that was introduced during the french revolution. They also made a decimal calendar and you can read all about it here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Republican_calendar). As far as I gather it turned out to be too complicated though. They gave it a good run of 12 years before going back to the traditional calendar we use now. I'm sure there must be some good ideas worth recovering in there though and it would be a good starting point to design a new form of web calendar :ha:

Oh, this sounds awesome! This also inspired me to actually look into swatch time, since I admittedly forgot to read what it was all about when I first found out about it. I think swatch dates, or even custom calendars would be awesome! I don't know how it would be implemented, but it definitely sounds like it would be something quite weird (which is to it sounds like something fun :cheesy: )
