Title: cant cheer up
Post by: SilkSkull on December 12, 2022 @927.87
Hey everyone, I've been a bit down recently. My laptop got stolen and I got broken up with in the same week (writing this from my phone). I've just been wondering, how do you guys cheer yourselves up after a hard time? Much love from the smoothest of skulls :4u:

I'm really sorry to hear that, that's two pretty big things in one week.

Something that's been helping me a lot lately is to remember that the only way out, is through. That may sound bleak but I think allowing yourself to be upset when bad things happen is part of being happy again too.

On the short term, I like to abide by dear old Dale Cooper's advice of giving yourself a little gift everyday. Even if it's something as simple as sleeping in an extra 10 minutes, or buying yourself a smoothie or something, I think making a conscious choice to give yourself something brings joy.

Those are both major events! Everyones different, but it takes me years to get through breakups  Also having stuff stolen is horrible; I had my glasses stolen in LAX and I missed my flight I was so upset.

Thats my way of saying that its ok to be upset, and its ok to be upset a lot and for a long time; I know there is always a rush to feel better again, but feeling bad when bad things happen is necessary and good and you should not feel like you need to hide it or rush out of it. Im sorry these things have happened, its unfair and no good!

After that, the best things you can do are to just treat yourself kindly (and don't blame yourself); drink hot chocolate, go for walks to nice places, work on things you enjoy. Most of all talk to people, friends and family, whoever you're close with; talking to people is always the best way forward - and often its the thing we avoid most (also it can be productive, someone might have a laptop they can lend you).

I know its a bit bland to say; but eating well, physical activity and socialising are the most basic and most powerful tools for humans to feel good! So focus on the basics for a while and take it day by day.

You're worthwhile and deserve better, and better things will come; they always do, and they will make yesterday look dull in comparison :4u: I know its a bit cheesy, but this channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-0z5hasC5I) helped me when I was down.

  I'm sorry about your stolen laptop AND the break up soo unlucky
I can understand how much it can bum you out over things like this since they are a pretty big deal!! I reccommend going to lost-and-founds if there are any.. It's possible the person who took it might be looking for the owner
ALSO im so so sorry u have to use ur phone ahha its so hard to use phones on forums like this from personal experience
What always cheers me up from heartbreak, either from friends or loved ones, is to use coping skills. coping skills are a veryyy neccessary skill for mental health . basically, they are activities to help soothe the hurt! Usually something that isnt reliant on people, like maybe drawing or taking deep breaths.. stretches always help ease my mind personally
I hope you can find some peace soon since this seems like a very hectic and sad week for you, keep us updated!

Thank you guys, so I'm unable to find my laptop anywhere and I feel like my chances of getting it back and tiny. I've been wanting to upgrade recently anyway so theres a bright side I suppose. I've already gotten a pretty good amount of money so now I will start looking for one. As for the breakup I've been feeling out my emotions and trying to spend time to myself and it's been helping. Thank you guys for the support and I'll continue to be active on here! I'll definitely make an update once I get my new laptop. :transport:

You mean the bots? Theyve been making larger and larger updates recently with bug fixes, some of them helped with the bots. I havent played casual recently but last time i did they were completely gone!

My dad made me watch a few episodes when I was younger but having finished it I definitley think it was ahead of its time as a cartoon with a semi-continous plot :cheesy: :cheesy: seems now that a lot of cartoons are following the trend of having plot which i am particularly fond of
i feel like futurama and shows like it are there to thank, kinda the ancestors for thiss cartoon genre

I recently got the "complete" box-set from a flea market a while back. (Quotation marks because it was released before the revival)

I love Futurama, it's one of the funniest shows I've ever watched!

Lucky! I can never find a good DVD set where I live.
