Fun idea, but I think some things don't hold up. :eyes:

For once, maximalist retro web sites definitely aren't smaller than modern websites, with the lavish images, embedded music, dozens of gifs, and so on bloating up the file size and processing power to an almost absurd level.

On the other side, "blank white site" would actually be a plus (see xhtml.club (http://xhtml.club)), but instead the modern web is NOT that simple and contenr focused. And, well, I don't think we can deny that the modern web has plenty of people to talk to and content to watch compared to our meagre subculture.
