tweakbench has a bunch of really good VSTs and ive picked up a couple for myself. if you go on their site, you can pay for them. but i think thats just to support the developers, you can get them for free as well.
socalabs has a couple of VSTs as well, and they have a collection of synths that emulate sounds from certain videogame consoles like the gameboy or sega master system.
i'd also check out synth1, its extremely popular and for a good reason. it was originally hosted on geocities which is of course down, but you can find it other places.
there's also magical 8 bit plug, but i had a bit trouble finding it because it was on a japanese website + i dont think they support it anymore..?

i have a few friends who use LMMS, an open source DAW. i havent tried it out for myself, but ive heard good things about it. im not aware if it supports plugins (VSTs) though, but i may be wrong.

and of course, audacity. but everyone knows about that.

⛄︎ ∙ Forum Discussion / Re: Forum feature requests and Ideas
« on: February 08, 2022, 11:36:47 pm »
hey hey! ive been on here quite a bit recently and ive came up with some suggestions.
i think we should have an option to change the width of the site, i dont really know how to explain it, but pokefarm q has this feature. you can basically select a width for the main content and forum. i have a large monitor so reading through forum posts is kind of difficult when each line is SO long.
also i think the profile editor should have the little buttons at the top to insert bbcode, for those (myself) who dont know every bbcode tag
and on the topic of bbcode tags, i remember a while ago i was trying to insert an image to which you had to resize since i couldnt figure out how to resize an image with bbcode. ive seen some forums have a little popup box when inserting an image that lets you chose its size. i feel like that would be something cool to have
if these features already exist, you can ignore this. im blind as a bat :ziped:

i wasnt aware a tea addiction was a thing but ive certainly developed it. i drink around two cups a day, whoops! but yes i am also a tea drinker, my favorite is chai even though thats more of a latte rather than plain tea. but ive recently been drinking a lot of Lotus tea. i had it for the first time at an asian restaurant a few months ago and it's definitely got a certain taste, i had to pick some up for myself. its deliiiicious.

this site is fairly dead and it actually went down for a while like, last year, because the owner could barely afford to keep it running :notgood:

OOOOH ive been looking for a place to host my music somewhere that's not bandcamp or soundcloud, because theyre so centralized and soundcloud specifically limits the amount of uploads you can have. ive been looking for a spot where I could host my music with a direct link to the file so i could embed it on my site.. i noticed cybergrunge has direct links to the files, but for some reason those links wont work for me x_x not clue if its just incompatable with some plugin i have installed on my browser, or if somethings funky with it.
other than that, it looks great! ill definitely bookmark this so i can check out some cool artists later :ozwomp:
though i do have some suggestions, the hover effects for some buttons and links are a little off-putting with the way the border grows in size tends to shift the surrounding contents around. i luhhhv the older cluttered aesthetic of the site and i can tell that it was purposeful, but those hover effects are a little off-putting as i said.

I absolutely love this idea and I'd be very opened to join, however I don't have a job currently so I haven't had much money in my bank. But I'll be sure to join whenever I do have money to spare :omg:k:

☞ ∙ Life on the Web / Re: Social Media is dangerous
« on: January 27, 2022, 12:14:54 am »
I thought I was the only one who felt this way.
A couple years ago I decided to put down social media entirely due to personal reasons and I was actually able to stay away from any and all social networking sites (besides Youtube and Discord, if those count) for about a year. I ended up having to go back though because the loneliness was eating me alive, as I'm unemployed and had little to no irl friends at that time. Though, I did feel happier during the majority of that year. That's around the time I discovered Neocities, since I was spending more time on my computer browsing the web and staying away from social media platforms. I decided to make a site to interact with people, thinking I would've left after a while. I've been here for around 3 years now, which is really weird to think about. I consider this place my home now and I actually spend more time here than on social media. Well unless I'm in bed, I usually spend early mornings and late nights mindlessly scrolling through posts.
I feel like staying away from social media would be so much easier if people were inclined to explore the web. Everyone crowds on sites like Instagram, Twitter, Discord, because that's where their friends are. One of my close friends told me she only uses Discord to talk to me, which is weird, because, I really only use Discord to talk to her as well as two other folks but that's about it. It's basically hardwired into everyone's brains at this point that social media is The Place To Be to interact. No one ever thinks about sending a text message or even an e-mail anymore, even though everyone has the ability to.

Waking up in the middle of the night to one of those tornado warnings on television. Do those still exist? Did they change that god awful sound? I still remember the feeling of being a 5 year old all alone in my room and about to cry because I was too scared to go up to the television and turn it off. The sound was scary!

My mom used this e-mail client when I was younger and whenever she'd get mail I'd hear it from across the house and I'd run in like "MOM YOU'VE GOT MAIL. YOU HEAR? YOU GOT MAIL"
I would randomly just say "you've got mail" to annoy the crap out of he

There are lots of things that look yummy but I can't think of just one. I think my answer's gotta be these bear counters from primary school. Well it's not like we never tried to eat them anyway.

(sorry for the large image im not sure how to shrink it x_x)
~Edit By Melon: I shrunk it for you!~

I am a very big fan of the tooth cat. I really hope you make a game/virtual world for the tooth cat to live in, maybe like a big mouth or something

Yes thank you! His name is Yap and I was planning to put him along with some of his friends in a PS1 styled game, but I've got no clue where to start.

« on: December 01, 2021, 04:22:31 pm »
Hi hi hi there I'm Sunny and I'm the webmaster over at https://dokodemo.neocities.org/ !!
I'm 17 but I was raised in a household WAY behind what was new and popular so I grew up with lots of old stuff.
I like old videogames especially from the SNES, N64, and PS1 era. I have like, 13 pets. And hundreds of stuffed animals. Mentally I am, like, 9.
You can find me on OSU at https://osu.ppy.sh/users/9759511, and view my anime/manga history at https://anilist.c:ha:user/dokodem:ha:
I'm not the best at introductions but hello hello hello!
