i really like this song! the demos version of hawaii part ii was the first album i ever bought. demo 3 of this song was my favorite track, i even named a neopet after it 0_o it's fun seeing people's theories for what the lyrics mean... i made up a character based on my theory when i was younger and i think a lot of other people did as well:

it was used in the trailer for a Super Mario 64 horror series

i looked it up after reading this and MAN, this thing is crazy!!! i can't imagine the work that went into this, i am definitely gonna follow this project. youtubers in 2009 would be pooping themselves if they saw this. i am posting it here so others can see it too ^3^

i don't like to have a lot of icons, but i also don't like to clean, so i usually let all the files on my desktop build up until they're filling half the screen and then i sort them... i cleaned for this picture! : P

i just got a new computer so this is my first time on windows 11 and i gotta say, the look of the taskbar really bugs me. i can't make it dark without making everything else on my computer (file explorer, control panel, etc) the same however, i'm glad i can still change the look of my cursor... i can't go without my little hello kitty pointer!

i've browsed the ASCII Art Archive and i think it's really cool, but i'm looking more for really widespread macros which i don't think it has a lot of V_V Curlie is new to me though, i'll definitely look around with it! i have a feeling i should also try checking old deviantART profiles and blogs for MMORPGS... i have a feeling there will be lots of stuff floating around

I know it's a pet peeve but that's actually not ASCII at all that you posted. It's ANSI, or Unicode, depending on the encoding you use.

some were just messages for you to copy/paste everywhere, others (like the % and copyright messages) were intended to be personalized. i am wondering, is there a database of these? or even personal collections scattered across people's websites? do you have any to share? i've tried looking, but i mostly come up with more modern versions like twitch memes

Id think you'd have to describe this one a little more for me. Do you mean like token that you can collect somehow? (Is it just a number?) How would you collect them and what would the be used for?? (Im not sure how I feel about reward systems on the forum )

oops sorry i was unclear XD i was thinking more like little icons or banners on your miniprofile that say something about yourself/what you like! they could be pickable by editing your profile and free to everyone. the bell tree forums has these square icons that look like animal crossing items and they mostly just exist to look pretty (though these ones are obtained via forum shop/event rewards).

and bulbagarden has these miniprofile banners that show what pokemon starters you like!

i think the biggest wrench in this idea is i'm just not sure what collectibles on this forum could look like... and it may seem redundant since we have signatures! : P

omg hahaha i am so silly. i came asking about a search function and i just noticed it at the top of the page! i think those header buttons just blend in as decoration in my brain.

i have another idea, though... have profile badges/collectibles been proposed? they're a feature i really like on Bell Tree Forums, i think it's another fun way to customize your profile

I know I'm in a minority here but I admit it's hard for me to find animes I like because many of them, especially the modern big popular ones have a big turn off for me- fanservice (more specifically the sexual kind).

veezle, you're not alone! i am really interested in anime, but it can feel like a slog trying to find a fun new show sometimes. even one of my favorite shows has some crappy jokes along these lines and it totally kills the scenes for me. as for what i DO like... i have a lot of love in my heart for these guys:

- puella magi madoka magica
this is definitely my longest lasting favorite. i think the art is really cute (and the witch art is AWESOME), the soundtrack is beautiful, and i get all teary every time i rewatch it! ;-; a lot of people blame it for kickstarting this trend of "magical girl anime that is SUUPER DARK and EEEEVIL and SAD!!!" but i think all the shows that did that kinda missed the point of madoka. i don't think it's shocking for the sake of it and its ending felt bittersweet but hopeful.

- popee the performer
hilarious and totally caters to my love of early 3D art, wacky designs, and of course clowns! :-P they worked creatively within their limitations to make this and i think it resulted in something really special. i just wish it wasn't so hard to get merchandise for the show!

- azumanga daioh, galaxy angel, and nichijou
i'm putting these together because i like them for similar reasons: cute characters and random sense of humor. i feel like anybody who is a fan of one is sure to like the others. i like nichijou the most but azumanga and galaxy angel are really close!

- devilman (the birth and demon bird OVAs)
it is bad ass. the characters are fun. the english dub is hilariously bad and improves an already good OVA x10 (if you like bad dubs that is). i just wish they got to the end of the manga with this series of OVAs, they're my favorite adaptions of the manga! i think devilman also works well as an anti-war piece and it makes sense considering the creator had just experienced the vietnam war when the manga was originally being published.

this is my "oddball pick". i heard about it from a nice person on the Otakon staff and didn't get around to trying it until a few years after she told me about it which i totally regret! fun art style, fun psychology exploration, and i thought it handled the mental disorders it covered pretty well. i found the last episode touching the injection jokes sure were weird though 0_o

a friend showed me this documentary tonight and i was really wowed by it. i can't believe they made a documentary like this in 2003, virtual worlds had to have been much more complicated to interact with and create in! i felt like they touched on a lot of things we are still talking about today... the blurring of real life and virtual life, the notion that digital art can't last, and the avatar as an extension of the self, it all still feels relevant 19 years later. i thought it was really funny when they touched on the problem of room sizes and avatar sizes, where a lot of the rooms were built for 1 style of avatar and anyone using avatars outside of that style threw off the scale. i still have this problem in other games like Whirled, where some avatars are just too tiny for rooms!

i also found this in the description, a collection on the internet archive for virtual world preservation! how cool is that?!? https://archive.org/details/virtual_worlds i'll definitely be exploring this another time.
