Mastodon Server
Hi all! Just a quick post to announce that Im now running a smol mastodon server for myself and anyone here who would like an account.

For those of you who don't know; Mastodon is a micro-blogging platform (like Twitter) - but its federated (like e-mail); that means you can make an account on any server and interact with people from any other server!

In general its more healthy than mainstream social media, but it is still social media - so if you're here to get away from all social media I totally understand and Id recommend you stick to your goal! - but if you are curious and would like to try it out, feel free to give it a go!

You can request an account on the MelonLand server here (I spent way too long custom theming it!); or you can look at this list for other servers.

If you apply for an account on the MelonLand server, be sure to let me know who you are (if you think I wont be able to tell) - if you are not a forum member you can still apply, but send me a site link and/or some other info so I can be sure your cool! - The server wont be moderated as heavily as the forum, but it does follow the general rules of not being a crappy person!

You can also host your own server if you like (I know a few people here do) but its a pain and Im not gonna help

The other thing is being careful how you put your email address on the site.

This is an interesting topic; we were drilled about this subject in web design class - "never ever ever put an e-mail on a website or you'll get spam", and that makes a lot of sense. However Id had exposed emails on sites for years now and Iv (almost) never gotten any spam..

I have a theory that spammers just don't actually crawl the web for emails anymore; they don't expect people to be posting un-obscured emails on personal sites anymore; or if they do, its just not worth their time to find them.. Its a bit like playing with fire, but at this moment in time I actually don't think putting an e-mail on a site is really an issue anymore (but its still a bad idea, don't do as I do!)

Hi, Im looking for character models to include in the revamped Ozwomp online game! I would love to include some models made by forum people

You can make models in any program you like - please send them in fbx or blender format!
Also please keep your models EXTREMELY low poly, as low as possible! (Otherwise I'll have to compress your model and that might make it look weird)
Please use solid colour textures!
You can animate if you like! (Make sure it loops) (I will add basic animation to non animated models)

Sometimes there are moments that you just remember perfectly clearly in your mind - maybe there is a reason, maybe theres no reason at all. What are some moments you remember, and can you describe what you remember most about them (the light, a sound, a smell, the look on someones face etc)

I remember the swing at my first school when I was 3; I remember the ground was red dirt and worn away from feet and there was an obstacle like a pond near it; I was talking to a friend - I think it was time for us to go inside, but I wanted to stay there.

Iv been thinking of starting a small podcast! Mainly focusing on website making, web revival culture, web art, web games, news in the web revival etc

People keep telling me I speak well, and I certainly have a lot to say; but I also admit I'm not much of a vocaliser, so I think that would be a bit of challenge - but it might be a fun ocasional thing to do

When I first made my homepage it was very much a secret space where I could mess around; but over the years more and more people in my everyday life learned about it; these days EVERYONE knows about my sites, from my family to my barber; but that doesn't bother me. My sites have become part of who I am, so Im happy for people to see them; I actually feel like someone hasn't really met me if they haven't met my site

How do you feel about sharing your online personas with people in your everyday life? I know for many of you it might not be a choice, and for others you'll just prefer to keep a separation - but I'm curious to hear what people think - particularly in the old web community where we often reject the professionalisation of online personas - yet still have to be professional in life.

There are LOTS that I used to love but grew to dislike, but this thread is about the few that have gone the other way!

I remember when I was little there was a really annoying TV ad that had this song on it, I hated that ad! And I did not care for this song very much for many years - but a few weeks ago I heard it on the radio and though it was kinda nice - I came back to it again recently and I just loved it - its funny how things change I can be quite slow
