⛽︎ ∙ Technology & Archiving / Re: Favorite camera?« on: February 03, 2023, 04:50:55 pm »Quote This isnt exactly a camera, its a camcorder bUUUT it can take picturesThat second video is fantastic! I remember when the world felt like that! Harmless anarchy ![]() Old video camera pictures are great - my mum actually did a whole art project based on them around 2006 - https://sarahiremonger.com/photographs/myths-2006-07/1 (a lot of them are pictures of me ) - They have a really soft digital-yet-analouge feeling - I find it really interesting that she spotted that all the way back in 2006, most of us are only just starting to notice this technology now! Also unrelated - but if we are talking video camera imagery: this is a great video on CRT camcorders from the 80s! 183
✁ ∙ Web Crafting / Re: Keeping motivation to code?« on: February 03, 2023, 04:34:56 pm »Im very creatively competitive; Im always browsing around going like "OH thats cool.. but MAYBE it could be cooler if I did it like THIS!" Or.. "wow they totally did something I didn't think of.. I wanna try do something like that my own way". Or simply.. "I really enjoy this kind of content on this site - I wanna try add more content like it to my own!" When I arrived in Neocities, I already had a lot of web knowledge, but its grown so much more since then (Particularly my JavaScript knowledge) - so every few months I might return to a project with new knowledge and suddenly Im able to do more than was possible in the past - that always pushes me to rework pages and do things even better. I know many people like to just make sites for themselves.. but its way more fun if theres a bit of healthy rivalry too (both between other people and with your past self) - Id like to see more people challenge themselves!184
⛄︎ ∙ Forum Discussion / Re: Forum feature requests and Ideas« on: February 03, 2023, 04:10:25 pm »Random forum request to consider: maybe a song that plays on this site? A custom-made one specifically would be awesome, maybe even different songs when you enter different zones/topics :omg:k: That was kinda the idea with the radio! (Does anyone click it??) - the idea was that it would be an optional thing people could open as they browse- but maybe we can expand on that idea somehow! 186

I have temporeraly removed the script pending a better solution - even my computer seems happier now ![]() 187

✎ ∙ Making Games & Art Discussion / Getting started with synth based vocals?« on: February 03, 2023, 02:20:43 pm »Just a quick question! Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of making synthesised vocals for songs (like Vocaloid etc) - Ideally Id like to be able to easily map a set of lyrics to a tune using a synthetic voice - possibly even playing the vocals like a musical instrument! I know its conceptually possible; but Id love to hear if anyone has particular experience or can point me in a direction! ![]() 191
⛽︎ ∙ Technology & Archiving / Re: Favorite camera?« on: February 02, 2023, 11:59:50 pm »Yep! Thats the one - I suppose what makes a good picture is very subjective - I find its very good at capturing soft warm light and colour tones - heres an uncompressed image. I used a cheapo lens when I first got it and it wasn't nearly as good; so a lot is in the lens - the older adapted lenses tend to be good at making things more.. warped! However its definitely not as crisp as a proper DSLR; Im not sure id use it for detail shots. It tends to blow out a bit with high contrast (I mostly just use auto mode) - but its generally still a nice result - I should prob switch it into RAW mode though; that would avoid that issue much better..192

⛽︎ ∙ Technology & Archiving / Re: Favorite camera?« on: February 02, 2023, 11:04:53 pm »Apparently that 645Z was $9000 new! I don't think I know many individuals that that level of investment in a bit of tech!Personally I use an Olympus OM-D III with a 50mm equivalent lens - Its a fun camera! Its smaller than you'd expect but you can adapt full size lenses to fit on it; so sometimes I used old Pentax lenses from the 60s! It also makes a very satisfying click when you close the shutter! It does great video too which can be handy when you need it! (theres a gyroscopic mechanical stabiliser built into the body; you can feel it spinning!) Walking around with it makes me feel a bit like I have one of those old Startrek tricorders form the original series ![]() (Here it is next to a pen for scale - excuse the dust its not seen much use this winter!) ![]() |
