Fun fact - this post makes you the oldest active forum member
Iv seen you post about this on Neocities before, but I could never figure out what it was, so thank you for the intro!
Ok so its technologically its a single page hosting service using a custom markdown and CSS to simulate html pages? Id say that's too simple to work, but actually, these sites have a vibe! Its very 1992 feeling Although.. I'm not sure id call it a way to socialise.. since it doesn't really have any social features, unless I'm missing something??
As a lil hosting service its cute - and it totally has a mood, I really like it Id love to hear about how its made!
We actually did have a computer class in school, but they just taught us how to make folders and put folders IN folders?? (omg that was an intense day).
I feel like as teenagers we would have mocked this idea mercilessly; but Id have loved a class that taught you how to build relationships and manage emotions - i.e. how to maintain friendships, getting along with parents, resolving arguments, making friends, working through grief etc - I think that would have helped a lot of people
Aside from that; we had a few classes about how to get a drivers licence and plan a holiday etc - but a proper class on how to do things like, how to do taxes, how to register with a doctor, how to buy insurance, how to shop smartly, how to vote and run for election, how and when to get legal advice etc.
You are perfectly coherent! Your actually the first person who understood why I made this topic (at least the first who has replied).
This question of mystery and how much mystery to reveal is the big concern I had about this idea. Some people love mystery, but others dont - I wanted to try and make something that allowed both to get a bit of what they wanted (but maybe Im trying to please everyone )
I have no idea when too much clarification is too much, but thats what im trying to figure out here - so thank you for seeing that and pointing it out - the fact that you see it too means that its a real issue and not just in my head! Im always torn between my site being a resource, an artwork and a homepage; figuring out that balance is always a work in progress.
I think any era of PSP is a great 2000s portable video player You can get VERY large memory cards for them now super cheap - plus you can play UMD movies which are also really cheap in many old media shops. Oh and they can play games!
The 1000 series is my fav, but I think the 2000 and 3000 series can handle bigger memory cards and can be plugged into a TV to watch your moves big! I had a PSP Go too - its a great option too but you'll need to mod it to play backups games since the PS store no longer works. As for the Vita.. I had one but I never liked it much? But it can totally play movies too.
(The first gen bundle came with a cool media remote too so you could use it like a walkman!)
While I totally agree that Blender is the best modern way to do 3D modelling, I figured Id drop in an alternative idea!
If you're really into 90s style 3D modelling, you can totally use 90s 3D modelling software - it'll be clunky, but also much simpler, the core concepts are the same as in modern software - and the results will be very genuine!
Both can render still frames which can be converted to movies - and both can export 3D models that can be used in modern software like Unity for games ^^
Even if you end up learning Blender, it can be fun to mess around with old programs too
This is a pinned topic to share what your working on right now! It can be a site, and artwork, a 3D model, a song, a craft project etc etc Anything you are working on and wanna share! Partly because its fun to see what others are working on, but also because I think it can be helpful to feel less isolated when making things!
This topic is intended for sharing unfinished things you are working on but don't necessarily wanna start a whole thread about
Iv thought about this some more and I think the 470 looks like a really great computer and you should be really happy with it Both windows and linux should run well on it too!
Yeah I have a bug;; It's weird, it's only happened since about Christmas Eve I think, and is only happening on my Mac OS using Opera GX. Using Opera GX on my Android phone is completely fine however.
Some of the image colours just randomly inverted itself. I cleared cache and cookies too, but no change.
Thats super weird! Are you using any sort of dark-mode extension that forces websites into dark/light mode? - Whatever it is, I think the bug is in your browser, it doesnt look like the sorta thing I can fix from the server side
Wow bookbinding is always a useful hobby, Id love to make my own book someday! You seem like a very talented person all around - Im always impressed by how talented people are who join this forum

Ah yes, I too am guilty of this.
There are quite a few game developers on the forum now - Maybe we should make some sort of arcade to showcase games

Thats a really specific number and I don't think it makes any sense at all
Iv had a lot of online friends over the years; some of them were more casual acquaintances; some were long distance relationships; some were just close friendships - some I still talk to over 10 years later, some Iv lost contact with - many of them Iv met IRL after a few years - sometimes its gone great and we've gotten along even better in person - other times its a bit more awkward and you realise you don't share so much in common IRL - but its never been bad!
Iv also lived in a lot of places and had a lot of short term IRL friends that Iv met because of work, or flatmates etc - they were great friends and they had a big impact on me, but we didn't keep in contact because our friendship was tied to that physical place we shared. On top of all that, the last love of my life was someone who I met briefly IRL first, but then we got to know each other online?? So it can be very mixed up
What Id say is that they are both totally valid forms of friendship, but they are also VERY different. I think its important to have both. You need IRL friends to have that physical feeling of being in a place and experiencing time with another person, its a shared risk and a reality check. Id also say, in the 21st century; you need online friends to give you a broader cultural reach, to connect with ideas and places that are bigger than your physical world - the world is so interconnected now, we need that kind of conversation to be healthy citizens of the world
