This is a great lil blog; I enjoyed seeing your presents list! I might do something like that too

I had a look at this a few days ago and I really like the new design! it’s very 80s and nicely consistent; but it also lets you customise each page in a really fun way - I like the use of colours and text art tooo - it’s very cool

Critical feedback and be helpful too;
I find the centre align text a little hard to read (though it looks cool in this design) - sometimes the strong colours of the design pulled my attention away from the text; so you could focus on making the content pop more!
Those are all nitpicks though, which is a good sign, there’s nothing to do here but polish

Christmas/darkest winter is upon us and for many its a stressy time of the year; sometimes when your tired or busy it can be hard to put in that extra effort to make sure someone feels good about what your saying to them - particularly if your not feeling very kind within yourself

What are some of your tips for remembering to be kind to people (both online and offline)?

 

I missed this one! THe visuals are fantastic!! The interviews are.. a bit bland, although its interesting hearing voices from the people who inhabit this strange digital world. BUT omg the visuals are great - I may have to study this for my next game

Zonelets is the best hosted-on-neocities option like Ice said ^^

I used to just write my own HTML files for each entry.. but that was a major drag - so now my blog is hosted on a different site (Its a self hosted blog made with Textpattern which is like Wordpress) and its embedded into my neocities site using an frame. A super simple external host is https://smol.pub

That said, if its a very simple diary, then using a single html file and adding a new section is fine! You only need complex blog software if you plan to do big blog posts.

Iv been meaning to make a page on my site about this, but I'll draft here!

In 2007 when I was about 13 my mum took me to an arts-residency/holiday village by the cliffs in Kerry. Her partner at the time also had kids my age, and we were supposed to have a big summer holiday - but he had some sort of mental breakdown and they never showed up; so I was very much own my own for those two weeks.

I found a melon in the grocery shopping and as a protest I drew a face on it like Tom Hanks does in the movie Cast Away - then the joke sorta morphed into re-creating the gnome from Amelie; Id carry the melon around everywhere and photograph it in front of landmarks and nice views.

Most of the media from that era is lost; but I do have this picture of me with the melon.


That was also the same year my dad gave me a macbook for christmas/school - So there was this explosion of media I was creating; so I was making comics and best of all it had iSite which was a WYSIWIG site builder - I made a whole website about the melon and there was even a melon club you could sign upto by e-mail.. That site is LONG gone, but I vaguely remember what it looked like.. lots of curvy text :omg:k:

Naturally the site needed an author, and I wanted to pick a sorta generic web username.. so Melonking I tried to replace this username over the years a few times.. since I kinda feel like Iv grown out of it, but somehow it keeps sticking around!

I have a Moomin story actually; Iv traveled 12,000 miles to Japan twice, and twice I have gone to the same mall and stood outside the same moomin ice cream bar and been too shy to go in

I gotta add a disclamer if you buy that T430! It’s from 2012 so it’s twice the age of the one I suggested. In terms of value it’s a really bad deal; it’ll struggle to use the modern web, YouTube in particular I think I would have a hard time; so if you need it to be useful for everyday stuff, you’ll find yourself replacing it much sooner. I don’t recommend it at all
