I assume its wool? Or it it something else? (the pictures kinda low res) Either way! The colour transitions look super smooth and the overall effect is great

Also Manga is now a part of the Writers Corner and manga topics should be moved there! 500
☞ ∙ Life on the Web / Re: The shiny object syndrome and difficulties trying to control my habits.« on: November 19, 2022, 02:24:58 pm »Im a real believer in the idea that true passion is never a chore. If you really love a hobby or a task you've set for yourself, it should be easy (lots of work sure, but it should be work that you find yourself wanting to do). So its possible that you simply need to take some time to think about what you really want and why; maybe you've not found your true passion yet; maybe its not Linux distros? (maybe its not even computer related) I watch a lot of YouTube too, and I know that I do it to avoid things I don't want to deal with; only you know why you do it though! I also don't believe in the idea of goals or that things need to be accomplished; often just making/doing something because you want to do it, with no goal in mind is the best way to move forwards; it takes away the pressure of success and failure, and makes it just about enjoying the task. You are not a problem or a syndrome It sounds like you just need to get outside your comfort zone and explore new things. ![]() 501

One of the rules I try to maintain is that sites should at least be navigable without Javascript for exactly things like this! (Unless it really needs JS) Its a very cool project though thanks for sharing it! And you should totally use this and your main browser setup! 502
⛄︎ ∙ Forum Discussion / Re: Forum feature requests and Ideas« on: November 19, 2022, 01:03:39 am »not sure if this was already decided, but i think that's appropriate! i always lump all kinds of comics (manga, webcomics, etc) in with literature. Not decided yet, I was waiting to see if anyone else replied! Im inclined to go ahead with this plan though since it makes sense to meee. I can understand the logic of grouping anime & manga too.. but in the case of this forum I don't think we need another board dedicated to that (at least not right now) ![]() 503
✑ ∙ Writers Corner / Re: RSS Feeds you enjoy reading?« on: November 17, 2022, 10:43:19 pm »Speaking of being new to RSS, what readers do you guys recommend? Free Apps: For Mac + iOS - NetNewsWire - OpenSource For Windows + Linux - QuietRSS - OpenSource For Android - I actually never found anything satisfactory so Id stick to desktop reading in this case. I ended up using one called Podcast Addict, its mostly for podcasts but also did RSS feeds.. but it kinda sucked... * Also if you use the Thunderbird e-mail client - It has a built in RSS reader. * The Vivaldi browser (which I recommend greatly) also has a built in RSS reader! (Might be a solution to the android issue as its also on android??) There are also premium web based readers like NewsBlur - They have a free plan although they really want to charge you a monthly fee, but they will have good apps for all platforms and they will sync your feeds between apps. Annnddd Im tryna convince the crew at Yesterweb to host a free copy of FreshRSS for people which is like a self hosted version of NewsBlur ![]() If your trying things out for the first time - Id suggest downloading one of the free apps and using it on your computer to see what its like; later you can explore more complex stuff like NewsBlur etc if you want to get deeper into it. - More general feeds!!! NASA Breaking News - https://www.nasa.gov/rss/dyn/breaking_news.rss NASA Image of the Day - https://www.nasa.gov/rss/dyn/lg_image_of_the_day.rss All feeds from DW News English (German news agency - really great global reporting!) - https://corporate.dw.com/en/rss/s-31500 Al Jazeera News English (Qatar news agency) - https://www.aljazeera.com/xml/rss/all.xml - Some web people feeds: Status.Cafe all status updates - https://status.cafe/feed.atom Neon Kiosk (random updates from random web revival sites that use the kiosk :omg:k: ) - https://journal.miso.town/atom?url=https://kiosk.nightfall.city History of the Web - https://thehistoryoftheweb.com/feed/ thmnwh's feed (the only person on neocities with a great active feed..) - https://thmnwhhsfld.neocities.org/feed.xml ALSO Dreamwidth.org journals - you can get a feed on any dreamwith journal with: https://{NAME}.dreamwidth.org/data/atom AND WordPress - any wordpress blog you can do /feed to get a feed of the wordpress site 504

Events are great; although for me they are a lot of work If you have any suggestions please do share; also Im always supportive of people running their own events on the forum (not everything needs to be an "official" event!) I think some sort of digital secret Santa could be cool .. as for a Christmas theme.. hmm, we didn't do one last year, but the forum was smaller then; I think I have some old bits of CSS in my attic I could set up ![]() 505
