Ooohh, it sounds like the font you are using does not have question marks in it; if a font maker does not make a design for a particular letter or symbol, then it will just show up as the default, which is generally Times New Roman :defrag:

How do I make only headers use that font? It does it for everything.

Easy! It looks like some of your headers are in h3 tags (on your page2.html); so you just need to do something like this!
Code
body {
 font-family: sans-serif;
}

h1, h2, h3 {
 font-family:"Bit3";
}
(I put san-serif as the body font to make it different but you could pick any; I also made your bit font apply to h1, h2 and h3 tags, so no matter what one you use they will all have the same font)

Also there’s no question marks so I don’t use them how do I fix that?
Im not sure what you mean here? No question marks? You can use question marks on html pages!

I signed up recently too; not because Im escaping Twitter (I left YEARS ago) but mostly because Mastadon seems to be the happening place this weekend :unite:

So far it seems like a very positive environment; I like that you cant see how many stars posts have, that makes it quite low stress - The diversity of apps for it is a bit confusing (I tried 3 for iPhone and have settled on Toot! and Mastonaut for Mac, but both have not been updated in a year?; and Im not a huge fan of the website design.. but its fine; some custom CSS would help!

EDIT: There is now a MELONLAND Mastdodon server!! - If you would like an account you can request one here :grin:

Anyway, my profile is: https://toot.melonland.net/@mk :ozwomp:

Im still trying build out my home feed, so if you have any cool people to follow (other than yourselfs) please suggest em!

2) find people who share the same interests?
So far my system has been to find people I know, and then look through who they follow; I think you can also look at hashtags but those scare me :omg:k:

Ummm every website should have a MelonLand forum graphic :tongue:

Sooo the main things I tend to look at on a site- An About Page, I like to know what kinda person is making the site - An art/music etc page, I like to see the things that this person likes to create, even if its just doodles or css buttons - The links page, as Gans said, I like to see who this site links too and what other sites they are into - The home page, well its just useful having one!

After that you can kinda do what you like - Blogs and photo journals are always cool.. The thing is, its not really about what stuff your site has, its more about whether that stuff expresses who you are. A site should express and showcase your individuality; thats the most interesting thing to see, and it can be done in any way. So it can be useful having a few standard features; but you dont realy neeeeeed them if you can express yourself in other ways :grin:

Hii, ooph this is a nice lil design; I like the snowman dude, hes just havin a nice ol day.

Site design I can make a few observations; most are just my opinion though so you should do what you think is best!
  • Its a BIT small; I know your going for that retro mini look, but modern screens ARE bigger and you can make use of that.
  • I cant find any way to get back to the first page when I click a link? You could make your ":grin:igital Devil" logo do that!
  • You can use this to fix your URLs https://forum.melonland.net/index.php?topic=115.0
  • The font is cool, but sometimes on longer bits of text, like your about page, its tad overwhelming; if you used a mix of fonts; maybe something less blocky for paragraphs that would be helpful for people reading!

I like where its going though; its nice to see a site thats not using sadnesses layout generator :omg:k: Obvs you have a few unfinished links to sort out but its WIP. Snooping your code; its good! Maybe double check your <ul>'s and <li>'s (lists), you've got a few errors with those; and I notice you don't use any <h1> or<h2> tags for headers? Overall though its really good for being new to HTML.

I think its a great start and you should be pleased with it :unite:

behold my smol foldable table with my smol 13'' laptop that i do everything on.

I realize this is more of a room pic than a desk picture but this is the only one I have where it's decently clean :ohdear:

Wow both of your systems perfectly match your site designs thats really cool! :ozwomp: Ugghh I guess I was more like that once but Iv had to moove too many times :sad:

@cinni This is not acceptable; get your desk back! If there's one thing Iv learned in life, its that love is not worth back pain :TnT:

@gravey This is a very impressive commitment to vibe!

How do you find gaming and working in the same space? I struggle with it personally.

I think splitting the computers helps; even though the desk is the same, when Im at the Mac its very much not a "Lets play games vibe".. that said.. Iv very capable of being totaly distracted by EVERYTHING else instead :omg:k: Also my big issue is that I can never actualy sit at the desk for long, I just start wandering around :drat:

This probably deserves a longer topic, but Iv been messing around with Nvidias 3D rendering system recently and figured Id share it here for anyone interested!

This is a render I made of my dad while he was sitting in a local cafe. It has a mesh overlay to make it more obscure and arty; the meshes can be exported as 3D models, but the detailed textures you seen in the background cannot which is a bit of a pain. That said, Im working on an arts project atm and im super pleased with this process and will prob include a few of these renders :grin:

The project itself is a bit of a chore to setup; its open source but you need an Nvidia GPU in your computer and you need to compile the project from source: There is a pretty good tutorial here: https://github.com/bycloudai/instant-ngp-Windows

Watch the video they link at the top; just install everything (Also install GIT they forget that) and follow the steps; and when it asks for a data set; you literally just take about 20-100 photos of the thing you want to make a 3d model of, from different angles; thats your data set; pop it in and bobs your uncle! (The images don't need to align like a panorama; it will figure out the connections between objects! Make sure to resize images to about 1000px or it'll be really slow)

I might be a little bias because its my ALL TIME favourite game; but I think SSX Tricky holds up really well (So do all the other SSX games). The graphics have aged and are very PS2 aesthetics, but once the game starts you forget about the visuals really fast. The soundtrack is fantastic 90s electronica and the controls for the most part still feel snappy and as you'd expect. I think it you sat a 10 year old down with it today they would enjoy it just as much as I did when I was 10!

what do you use the 3 separate computers for
My dad asked exactly the same thing when he visited a few days ago :tongue:

Its only two computers! The Mac on the right is my main computer, and the Dell on the left is mostly for gaming and 3D software, YouTube (and Winamp visualisers). The middle screen is just a monitor and it can be switched between the Mac or the Dell depending on which one Im working on.

I actually find its a super efficient system since switching the screen just involves pressing its input button; and I can share files between the computers over the network and even use a universal mouse/keyboard app; so it all kinda merges into one big computer!

Im amazed no one has made this thread yet, its about time!

Im always fascinated to see how people setup their workspaces, particularly when those spaces are really important to them. Desk roasting videos on YouTube are great, but an old school forum thread seems fitting too.

What do you value in a desk setup? What makes you feel at home?

I think for me.. having a cozy space is the most important thing, its got to feel like a safe corner of the world where you can be yourself; though often thats hard to create :-S

Iv gone through like.. 4 desks in different places in the last 2 years; here is my current setup, its only temporary so its not very exciting; but I made it out of a door I..errr unscrewwed from its doorframe in another room :innocent:
