I was sure someone was doing a halloween competition already, but I cant find it, so Im running my own lil contest!! This is a casual award for the spookiest webpages around; no need to feel stressed, if you have a spooky webpage of even a page with spooky gifs you should enter!
Now closed thanks for entering!
How to Enter: Simple! However there are a few rules!
You may nominate up to 2 webpages (single pages not whole sites; so your 2 fav pages if you have a whole site).
Webpages must be made by you; or be fully maintained by you!
They don't need to be unique for this award; e.g. they can be made for other contests or just your sites halloween theme/skeleton collection.
They don't need to be new; pages you made years ago are fine too!
Obvs the page must be halloween/spooky/ghostly or witchy themed etc
Post your nominations in the comments below before 5pm GMT on the 31st!
Prizes:
The top 2 winners will be awarded freeee plots in MelonTown! You can use a plot to link to your site, or just ask me to put something there in your honour if you prefer not to be linked..
Everyone who enters will get their name on the honour list* and will get a secret prize!
How it will be awarded: The judging will focus mainly on how fun and creative the page is; the focus is on spookyness rather than web design skills.
I will be asking an impartial judge (A friend from outside the MelonLand community) to help assign 1-6 points to each webpage.
Then a public poll will be opened where everyone can vote for their favourite (1 vote = 1 point) - Voting opens on the 31st for 24 hours
The judges points plus community votes will decide the results!
Good luck! I hope people submit some kool spooky webpages or I'll be sad
* Honours list does not yet exist but it'll be hella pro, if you dont wanna be listed on it... TOUGH!
one my favorite records as of late. i dont listen to country so this record changed my view on how great the genre can be if used right. its both beautiful and tragic.
Townes Van Zandt is one of those magic dudes, he could take the soul of country and mix it with the honesty of folk; "I'll be here in the morning" from that album is one of my favourites
Iv been reading a few short stories by Franz Kafka recently; Iv never read any before and they really are sparkly; I though Id share a very short one here!
PASSERS-BY - Kafka When you go walking by night up a street and a man, visible a long way off--for the street mounts uphill and there is a full moon--comes running towards you, well, you don't catch hold of him, not even if he is a feeble and ragged creature, not even if someone chases yelling at his heels, but you let him run on.
For it is night, and you can't help it if the street goes uphill before you in the moonlight, and besides, these two have maybe started that chase to amuse themselves, or perhaps they are both chasing a third, perhaps the first is an innocent man and the second wants to murder him and you would become an accessory, perhaps they don't know anything about each other and are merely running separately home to bed, perhaps they are night birds, perhaps the first man is armed.
And anyhow, haven't you a right to be tired, haven't you been drinking a lot of wine? You're thankful that the second man is now long out of sight.
I was thinking about this topic in relation to myself and friends I have in offline life. Iv noticed that in the years since I started my site I think Iv changed as a person; Iv become more genuine and open in real life because of it. Sometimes it shocks me when I interact with people in a web-revival-ish open hearted way and they DON'T respond openly like web-revival people typically do
Over that same timeframe I met friends who are very invested in social media and more conventional online spaces; Iv noticed how they have become more stressed, more detached and less able to express themselves because they feel they have to behave in a certain way.
Obviously that is not scientific and it could just be coincidence; but I think it does suggest the possibility that being a part of positive open online spaces can have real and lasting positive effects on your personality; both online AND offline.
The internet is still SO NEW (Less than 20 years old for most people); we are still figuring it out, social media has many positives (like finding people you lost contact with) but it also gets A LOT wrong (like not providing real room for individuality). So much of the web-revival is about reclaiming individuality, and I hope in the future this form of self expression will make its way back into mainstream web culture; maybe a little wiser, kinder and more open than it was before.
Wow cool site, I don't think Iv ever seen so many strawberries!

Ummmm the ONLY bond worth watching is Sean Connery
The sets and GADGETS are admittedly waaay cooler in the Pierce Brosnan movies; the new movies are lame; and all the in between movies aree simply lacking Sean Connery
Wow there's a lot here and I feel like maybe I should sit down and watch them all again! (Im sure Iv seen most but I cant separate them in my mind). The lego batman does not surprise me, that was always gonna be a cash grab; the modern ones Iv never been a big fan of, too serious; and I actively hated Joker - I do understand though, I got what it was saying about anarchy, phycological distress and the fragility of society; and I can see why that fits the zeitgeist at the moment, but that just not the energy I want to absorb
I suppose the same could be said for the 90s ones too? Although they seem more camp and funky now; I like the mood of them, and In contrast to you Id say I really enjoyed Batman from 1989 (although maybe I need to compare it to the others). I have it on VHS and its a movie that really suits the grainy playback you get on an 80s TVs.
Also I dropped in here to say that Mick Gough who played Alfred in the 90s movies used to be my neighbour; we had dinner with him a few times, I don't remember much but he once asked me how I was and I said "Fine" and he said "No you're not; you're 12 and you're bored out of your mind, you're bloody well not fine". That was the day I learned not to give people generic answers and say what I really felt! Him and his wife also gave me a cool gothic looking chair for my birthday once. Im sad he died and I wish Id been smart enough to know him a little better
All that aside, I guess I still have a soft spot for the old live action TV show, that was what I grew up with (It was normal for Irish TV in the early 2000s to be 80% re-runs of 60s and 70s shows/movies, Im not sure if the rest of the world was like that) and I reaaaalllyyy wanted to be THAT batman when I was 6. So I guess the 1966 movie would be my favourite, I still aspire to be batman from the 60s!
EDIT: Just finished watching the 1966 movie and its so bad, I loved it!
Weirrrdd; I had a dream last night where I really wanted to buy one for some reason, but then I woke up and was like.. heck no I dont
Ok so my complaint about the SteamDeck is that is essentially a consumption only device; and for many kids/teens they might get it instead of a laptop or a desktop pc, which means they will never have a platform to explore more creative stuff (like making websites). That kinda thing worries me, but I guess it could also be said for iPads toooo (ish? iPads have a lot of creativity features now).
With that outa the way; if you have a PC and just want an extra portable gaming system for going on holiday or playing in bed or something; it seems like a really good option for that and very affordable.. For older games like Elder Scrolls or all those games you got from HumbleBundles in 2013 and never played, it seems like a great gadget!
Aesthetically I think its super ugly though and aesthetics actually rule my life But apparently not my dreams, so who knows what forces exist in the mind, I may be compelled to buy one yet!
I like your site, its got a more unique layout and Im always a fan of sites that stretch to the full browser width

Oo this is great!, I love the colour selection and the way you logged the design process for people, I think that will be a real help for anyone who wants to make a site like it! Well done on getting it done so far!
If you're looking for any feedback, I do have one suggestion: if you change:
Code
body { background: url(/images/bg.jpg;
to
Code
body { background: url(/images/bg.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
It will make your horizon background fit perfectly on all screen sizes and shapes; which is always a nice touch for us who dont use 16:9 screens
