« on: February 16, 2023, 04:29:45 pm »So there is prob a CSS solution here (I can see you did "::-webkit-scrollbar {display: none;}") already - but scrollbars can actually be set in your operating system - for example on mac scrollbars are invisible by default, so I actually don't see any scrollbars on your site. Some people prefer to have them visible though and switch them on!
You can also try this for Firefox (-webkit- means Chrome and Safari)
On Frameset the scrollbars are generated by your frameset page, so that's where you need to test your CSS - you've already done a bit of that so your on the right track!

English speaking, tech and arts focused community (I think Bristol is known for having an arts scene) - people in big cities are too busy for this kinda stuff so they don't tend to be on here. People in the rural areas are less interested in tech I imagine, so that means 90% of forum members are from smaller cities with an English speaking population, an arts culture that's liberal but relaxed, and have been online long enough to be into web nostalgia - when you get down to it, the real target audience of this forum probably only fits about 10-20 cities world wide!
50% of forum hits are from the US, the rest is quite diverse - South America, Middle East, Mainland Europe, Africa (although I don't trust the hits since I think ad-blocks mess with them)
That small file show is actually something I found on a New York based arts discussion group - but New York arts groups always love finding things from outside New York
I do find it interesting to think about; what kinda of people are attracted to spaces like this and why.
Also is that the worlds first suspension bridge in your picture? Its magnificent!

Hi all just to let you know the forum should now default to BBCodes again; sorry I got a bit excited by all the new features Iv also added a new BBCode guide you can access here (its also linked on the new post page)! You can switch to WYSIWYG mode by clicking the lil file icon at the end of the editors icon set (like you could before!)
We are also at the end of this big update wave, so there prob wont be any more major new features or changes; still fixing bugs though!
Over the next few days I'll be improving and updating the usage guide!

« on: February 16, 2023, 01:40:45 am »I recently submitted a bug report to the developer of the theme template the MelonLand Wiki uses because I could not figure out how to delete pages on DokuWiki and believed the delete button must be missing.
I quickly realized that it was my mistake, there is no delete button, you just erase all text on a page to delete the page
However the developer wrote back to me anyway with this really interesting description of design philosophies that I had never considered before; its a bit obscure sounding when you first read it, but if you're familiar with these platforms it starts to make a lot of sense.
It makes me wonder which ones I like most, why I like them and what ones do I use when I'm designing things. Id love to hear peoples thoughts, also maybe you know more about this than me and can add to it!

« on: February 15, 2023, 04:23:15 pm »something that I've been noticing recently is that every time you visit a post or someone's profile the browser will automatically focus on the textarea to write a comment taking you to the bottom of the page and it gets a bit annoyingIv actually been unable to fix this properly, textareas always auto-focus no matter what! So Iv redesigned things a little and made the comment box hidden by default, this avoids the issue! (aka the best way to solve issues)

Today was a great day!!! I went to the mall with my best friend Lilly, and we had so much fun!!! We went to the arcade, and we played some awesome games!!! I beat her in Pac-Man, but she beat me in Dance Dance Revolution!!! It was so cool!!! We also went to the food court, and we ate some delicious pizza and ice cream!!! Yummy!!! :P :P :P
After that, we went to the music store, and we bought some CDs of our favorite singers!!! I got the latest album of Hannah Montana, and she got the latest album of High School Musical!!! We love them so much!!! We also got some posters and stickers of them, and we decorated our lockers at school with them!!! They look so awesome!!! ;) ;) ;)
We also went to the bookstore, and we got some books that we wanted to read!!! I got the latest book of Harry Potter, and she got the latest book of Twilight!!! We are both big fans of them!!! We also got some magazines and comics, and we read them on the bus on our way home!!! They were so interesting!!! :) :) :)
We had a blast today, and we can't wait to do it again soon!!! We are the best of both worlds!!! :O :O :O

<p>Hi evryone!!! :D :D :D
Today was a good day!!! I went to school, and I learned some new things!!! We had math, and we learned about fractions and decimals!!! It was kind of hard, but I think I got it!!! We also had science, and we learned about plants and animals!!! It was kind of easy, but I think it was fun!!! We also had art, and we made some cool drawings and paintings!!! It was kind of messy, but I think it was creative!!! :P :P :P
After school, I went to the library, and I did some homework and some reading!!! I finished my math and science homework, and I think I did well!!! I also read some more of my Harry Potter book, and I think it was exciting!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!!! I also checked out some more books that I want to read, and I think they will be awesome!!! ;) ;) ;)
After that, I went to the park, and I played some games with my friends!!! We played soccer, and we had a lot of fun!!! I scored a goal, and I was so happy!!! We also played tag, and we had a lot of laughs!!! I was it, and I caught everyone!!! We also played hide and seek, and we had a lot of surprises!!! I hid behind a tree, and no one found me!!! :) :) :)
We had a good time today, and we can't wait to do it again tomorrow!!! We are the coolest kids in town!!! :O :O :O

Today was a bad day!!! I stayed at home, and I was sick!!! I had a fever, and I felt awful!!! I had to take some medicine, and I hated it!!! It was so bitter and gross!!! I also had to rest in bed, and I was bored!!! I had nothing to do, and I missed everything!!! I was so sad!!! :P :P :P
I couldn't go to school, and I missed some important lessons!!! I also missed some fun activities, and some cool events!!! I heard that they had a talent show, and a pizza party, and a movie night!!! I wanted to go so badly,but I couldn’t!!! I was so mad!!! ;) ;) ;)
I also couldn’t go to the mall, and I missed some awesome deals!!! I also missed some new releases, and some cool stuff!!! I heard that they had a sale on CDs, and a new album of High School Musical, and a new game of Pokemon!!! I wanted to buy them so badly, but I couldn’t!!! I was so frustrated!!! :) :) :)
I also couldn’t go to the park, and I missed some fun games with my friends!!! I also missed some laughs, and some surprises!!! I heard that they played basketball, and they had a lot of fun!!! « on: February 15, 2023, 01:12:52 am »would we even be able to tell which people online are real?I think we could already let this thing loose on a forum and it would be very hard to tell if it was a real person or not - its making a few obvious errors; Iv been trying to get it to write a website guide in the same style and it keeps saying to use Angelfire or Wix, I'm not sure id expect to see them in the same era (although apparently Wix was founded in 2006, I guess it looked that up, but it missed the fact that no one used it then
).. but aside from that its seems to fully be able to provide conversational posts and keep a recognizable personality.I think its missing a subtle humor and mood, for example "random, irrelevant, or meaningless!!!" - I don't think a real person would put !!! after meaningless, but that's a minor mistake!!!
My only concern is everyone making websites that all look the samey.Too many sites are already samey
