They do! You have to sign up to their forum, which seems to still be quite active! https://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/ then they send you through some very obscure donation pages.. but eventually you get your download and "Ten Dirty Words" was not worth it

Id add I never experienced Geocities, the first time I heard about it was when Yahoo deleted it in 2009 I did see the web in the 90s, but I was 5.. so the mood I chase now is really just a half-memory of something I almost knew. We didn't get regular internet at home until 2006.

More importantly though.. the version of the early web I remember and that others remember is not more important or better than the version you remember. You're memories of 2007 (Im guessing because of Vista) are different from mine, you saw things that were good and you liked; I hope you revive those things too!

In my mind web revival is not about bringing back one particular vision of the web from the 90s, its about bringing together the best bits of all eras from all different kinds of people and the things that are special to them

Why do we not have a topic about this! I had an inexplicable obsession with Mew Mew AMVs (Anime Music Video) when I was about 14 and I was looking back at them recently (and archiving a few of my favourites).

Did you make them? They always seemed like so much work to me I was super impressed by anyone who could do them!
Do you have any favourites?

(Also fun fact I er.. sold this video as an in-game item on a game called Whirled and it was really popular! Sorry video creator from 14 years ago!)

I also loved this channel by meworeo.. their last video is a preview and I remember it was 9 months old when I first found it, and I e-mailed the channel owner asking when it would be out and im still waiting for a reply!!

Cool! Theres actually is a bit of a webring shortage at the moment! The Low Tech Ring seems to be dead, the Yesterweb is too big and a lot of the smaller ones are very niche. Im interested to see that you're planning to enforce people having the ring code on their sites! Most rings today are very lax about that, it can be kind sad if your tryna follow a ring and you end up on a site that wont let you continue. I wish you luck!

Just a quick update because I have altered my newsletter format a little and its improved it a lot!

Firstly, if your using a custom domain on your e-mail, make sure your e-mail is setup properly with your domain! Mine was snot so I was getting spam filtered.

Secondly, I got a new plugin for Thunderbird called Mail Merge it basicly takes a list of contacts and generates a custom e-mail for each one.. so you can include a persons name in the e-mail, and it will also send it as a unique e-mail (from you to Jimmy, instead of; from you to undisclosed-recipients).

So now I make my e-mail in html, paste it into a Mail Merge template e-mail, generate unique emails for everyone on my mail list, and then send them out. The handy thing is that because emails are now all separate unique emails, you can time them with a Send Later feature! So if your mailing list is very long, you can send 100 and hour or something, that way it wont break your e-mail senders limits!

Thats good to hear! Im far from the perfect community manager, so sometimes I worry I could be doing better. Reddit definitely is another ball of fish, Iv had a few sites become hot topics on /r/InternetIsBeautiful and whats amazing is you get thousands of visitors for a day.. then nothing.. its like it never happened. I can understand how people enjoy the buzz, but Id rather grow something slow and lasting.

Oodles of Wills and Howdowns sounds amazing, I wish there was a link!

I'm now 35 and working as a web software developer using Angular and NodeJs. It's great work, but lately it has been feeling really empty.

So much of the creative work has been taken away from developers by UX libraries and and teams.. years ago it was all kinda one thing. I don't disagree with that, but humans need to be able to flex our creative muscles; not having room to be creative is as unhealthy as not having room to walk. I hope you are able to fill that void!

I think you're here at a really amazing time! In 2019 Neocties was.. a bit dead.. Then the pandemic came and BAM, a year of everyone being stuck inside lead to the most incredible exposition of new sites and a quantum leap in site quality and new ideas. Its been really exciting to watch and take part in!

Jim Henson-adjacent. Farscape

I watched Farscape for the first time a few months ago! I was disappointed it was so short (I felt like Id been Firefly-d again). The first season was a bit slow, but it really finds it feet as the show goes on; I was hoping it would be one of those sci-fi shows that has like 300 episodes Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal are some of my biggest influences in life.

Those are all cool interests, a friend keeps telling me to get into runescape.. I did play it once and I tried to be a monk and only use holy powers.. it turns out thats a really hard way to play!! Anyway, Im sure you play it better.

Clubs, Cliques, Webrings and More!

Hellooo this is a new experimental board to help people organise groups and webrings. There are a few kinds of posts you can make here, so I'll give some examples, but this is not an exhaustive list so if you have a post that you think fits do it anyway!

• Share links to webrings you have started or are a member of
• Share you web club/clique (e.g. a clique for sites about ducks!)
• Start a club, such as a book club, web design challenge club, or aesthetic vibe club

In all cases please provide the following details:

• The name of your group
• What the group is about and why you think its a good idea
• Members of your group or how to join the group
• Any graphics/links or other resources group members might need!

I hope to see lots of cool groups! But please be inclusive and friendly.

I know its not k-pop but there are a few j-pop bands I listen too! (I hope there is not some unspoken rivalry between the two that I don't know about...) I find though I enjoy them when I'm in Japan, but when I get home again they always stop fitting life as well.

That depends who your host is.. most hosts allow you to upload mp3s and oggs as much as your want. Neocities only lets you upload those files if you pay for Supporter though

Iv never tested it, but I recommend you setup a support site on https://ichi.city - (Support sites are mini sites on other host that offer features) You can upload any file to ichi.city and then you can link it through to your neocities site. Its also a great way to add 3d stuff like x3d!

There are a few other ways to do it too; you can put an auto-playing youtube video on your page and then hide it so people can only hear the audio. (I think? Im not sure if youtube block this now?? It used to be possible.)

Im sure others can suggest other options too!
