What are some songs that always put you in the Halloween mood in October?
I love horror punk, so anything by AFI circa 2000 is a good choice. Choosing anything from All Hallow's EP is probably cheating, but I can't go the month without listening to "Totalimmortal" at least once.
I actually sent the Linkin Park/LMFAO mashup by this same artist to a friend just hours before you posted this.
My taste in music is pretty eclectic, so I like both the original "Coming Undone" by Korn and "We are Never Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift, but they're way better together.
Double post, but I wanted to share Ouda Ouda, who was actually my coworker's boyfriend. I met him at the corporate Christmas party in 2016 and he was a really nice guy, but he passed away last year. His music is pretty great if reggae is your thing.
Recently I've been getting tired of the same music, I wanna expand my taste as well as get some new tracks for my current taste. I would especially love some more underground rap, techno, DnB, Jungle, House, Hardcore.
If you're looking for some good House music, I suggest Hugh Laurie's album *comedic drum rimshot*
But seriously, Let Them Talk is great if you're into classic blues. Tipitina is my favourite song from the album.
More to your actual tastes, you might like No Suits...
... Aesop Rock (this song has a bonus at the end if you're a fan of The Mountain Goats/Moral Orel)...
Does anyone have a Steam Deck? What do you think of it?
I assume anyone who has bought one is probably a fan, since it's a not-insignificant commitment. So even if you don't have one, what are your impressions of it as an outside observer?
I just ordered one on the weekend once I read that their supply issues have cleared up. When I looked into it earlier this year, there was a six-month waiting list for it. That wait is now down to three weeks, so I figured it was a good time to jump on board.
I haven't had a gaming PC in a long time, and I have a pretty big library of older (5+ years) Steam and GOG games that I've been itching to get back into. All of my friends played Elden Ring on PC while I was on Xbox, so I'm going to try to get a PC copy during a Steam sale so I can finally play cooperatively with them. Mostly, though, I want to be able to lay in bed and play Poker Night at the Inventory
I like the idea of a handheld PC with fixed specs so you don't have to deal with some of the stability issues inherent in PC games, but I'm not sure about the form factor. The face buttons look like they're way too close to the edges, so I don't know if it'll be comfortable to hold. I haven't heard anyone else complain about that, though, so hopefully it's not an issue when I finally get my hands on it.
Here's another one. Cannot Be Tamed is another gaming channel. She focuses a bit on retro games, but also covers newer ones as well. I found her channel when I was looking for a retro review of Sewer Shark for the Sega CD. She's probably the only other person I know of who remembers that game fondly. I recently replayed it on my Legends Ultimate arcade machine, and I still love it.
She also just posted a ranking video for her favourite horror games, so good Halloween content if you're looking for some.
I'm also 90% sure she's a fellow Canadian. The way she pronounces the word "Mouth" in the title "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" is a dead giveaway. :cheesy:
If I'm making it myself, I just load it up with meat like pepperoni, ham, chicken, turkey... basically any deli meat will do. If I ever have a heart attack, this will be why.
I don't really care for olives and mushrooms, or any of the non-meat toppings really, so if I'm ordering out I'll usually just get pepperoni because the other kinds like BBQ chicken have a lot of extras.
Thanksgiving totally snuck up on me this year. I knew I had today off work, but didn't know why until last Friday
So I haven't done anything special. I might have some pumpkin pie later.
Thanksgiving hasn't been a big holiday in my family since my grandparents passed away. The whole family used to go to their house for the weekend and have a big dinner, but nobody continued the tradition. They were really the glue that held the whole family together.
I'm not sure how obscure either of these really are, but I definitely don't see anyone else talking about them. Luckily they're both on GOG, so others can try them out if they want
I Am Not a Monster - It's a turn-based tactics game a bit similar to XCOM, styled like a 1950s sci-fi movie. You play as people aboard a space station during an invasion by shape-shifting lizard monsters who look similar to the Gorn from Star Trek. I think it's really cool, and love the ray-punk aesthetic.
There's also an online mode where some people are humans and others are aliens in disguise, each with their own objectives. But even though it came out in 2018, there aren't many people who still play it so you'll need to get a group of friends together if you want to experience the multiplayer.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto - This is an older Interplay game that came out near the end of Interplay's glory days. The graphics were absolutely gorgeous at the time, and I think they still hold up today.
You play as three different races, each with their own play styles. It's mostly a third-person shooter, but with a little bit of real-time strategy as well.
Dinosaur Dracula is a great one. He mostly posts about old toys and videos from the '80s and '90s. I-Mockery is similar, but hasn't been updated in a long time. The owner of the site had a personal tragedy in his life and sort of disappeared after, but all of the old content is still available.
The Windows 95 welcome screen on the right side took me back to being a little kid and sitting through installation wizards for games like MechWarrior 2 and Torin's Passage.
I've been waiting on the rumored Metroid Prime remaster for Switch for years. It's my favourite game of all time, but at this point the remaster is about as likely to actually happen as Metroid Prime 4.
My next choice would be Resident Evil: Dead Aim, because it's a really underappreciated game that is only playable on PS2. In my opinion it's the best of the Resident Evil spinoff games. And since it's a blend of classic third-person Resident Evil games and a light-gun shooter, even if you still have a PS2 you also need a CRT television because light-guns don't work on modern TVs. It's a great candidate for a Switch port so you can use the joycon's IR pointer for aiming.
The New 3DS XL is an awesome system. The extra L/R buttons and the joystick "nub" actually add a lot to quite a few games, not least of which being camera control in Majora's Mask and MGS3: Snake Eater.
Speaking of, both of those games are really good. Snake Eater is an interesting port. It's about on par with the PS2 version, with some added Kojima wierdness to take advantage of the 3DS's unique attributes. And the ports of Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time have upgraded graphics and improved controls which in my opinion makes them the best versions of those games.
But I think my favourite games are Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Resident Evil: Revelations. They're probably the best original titles available on the 3DS.
If you just want to centre-align the text itself, add style="text-align: center;" to your HTML element that holds the text (<div>, <p>, etc.)
If you want to centre an element horizontally on the page, like a <div>, you can do so by setting a width that's less than 100% of its parent container and then adding style="margin: 0 auto;".
Those are the two easiest solutions to the most common use cases. There are a lot of different ways to position things on the page, but since you're just starting out you probably don't want to get into flex or grid yet.
It sounds like you're recovering from a true social media addiction, so I don't think others' advice to try and dissociate or show self-control to complete the assignment is the right course for you. You don't want to mess around with this.
I would recommend speaking to your instructor about it as soon as possible. Don't leave it until just before the assignment is due.
Be cordial--not confrontational! But be very clear with them that you consider it an addiction and that being required to participate in the assignment is a serious risk to your mental health. Offer to complete a different assignment instead to make up the credit.
If your instructor is understanding and willing to listen, work with them to find an alternative. If they snap back at you despite you being professional, go to the head of the department and bring your concern to them.
