☆ ∙ Showcase & Links / Re: Libre.Town - New and Improved« on: December 26, 2022, 03:26:56 pm »I had a look at this a few days ago and I really like the new design! it’s very 80s and nicely consistent; but it also lets you customise each page in a really fun way - I like the use of colours and text art tooo - it’s very cool Hey, thank you for the feedback! I changed the text alignment in content pages to justify, should be better to read now. The design was definitely inspired by 80s computing, in particular twm, Tom's Window Manager, and the conventions of the time, with tiled BGs and all. ![]() 288

☆ ∙ Showcase & Links / Re: Libre.Town - New and Improved« on: December 24, 2022, 12:22:58 am »Ah neat! Yes, I came across your page just a few days ago and it was very big with lots of pages to explore. While it was cool, I completely understand though why you'd want to scale it back. It seemed like updating it was a nightmare Aw thank you! you know, sometimes it feels completely unbelievable to think that people are actively finding my website and browsing it... its so much pressure! but i feel like this time the new website can actually be something i am proud to show people to. <3thank you for adding my badge!! 290

☆ ∙ Showcase & Links / Re: Libre.Town - New and Improved« on: December 23, 2022, 10:00:42 pm »I didn't see the old one but I think the new site looks cool Yeah sure, why not? I just looked through your page and it looked super interesting!Do you want to be listed as a "friend of libre town" or in the links section? Or both? 293
☆ ∙ Showcase & Links / Libre.Town - New and Improved« on: December 23, 2022, 09:04:27 pm »Hey there, after months of absence and being frustrated with the concept and direction of Libre.Town as it used to be, I decided to completely reinvent the page from the ground up with a new goal, art direction and content. I am proud to say that while the website has almost no content yet, it is accessible, ready to look at, and it works! I will update this thread with (significant) updates I do to the page, so check the thread every now and then if you like it. :3 So, here it is: libre.town It will contain journal entries, shrines, my creative endeavors, a link list, and much more. As you can probably see already, it is much different from what Libre Town used to be; and that is intentional. This one is much closer to an actual personal homepage like many people on here have. If you are wondering what led me to delete the entirety of old Libre.Town, which had way over a year of work put in it, feel free to read the blog post where I detailed all that happened: libre.town/thoughts/entry_1.xhtml Oh, and if you have a cool lil website and want to be listed either as "friend of libre town" in the side bar or in the links section, feel free to reach out here or privately! ![]() Also feel free to use the Libre.Town badge: ![]() 294

☞ ∙ Life on the Web / Re: Tips for being kind to people?« on: December 23, 2022, 01:43:03 pm »Honestly I think the top number one thing that I had to (and still need to) learn to remind myself of is to imagine myself in other people's situations. Not in a simple, logical way, but in an actual, kind of silly "close my eyes and imagine vividly what I would feel" way. It helps me build empathy for what other people feel and what I would like me to act like in their shoes. Oftentimes it is difficult to understand why people act unexpectedly but that helps me build that kind of empathy. 296
⛽︎ ∙ Technology & Archiving / Re: GNU / Linux / Free Software« on: December 23, 2022, 01:38:46 pm »Glad to see a fellow Artix user! I've started using it recently and I feel like it's my favourite distro at this point. Installed a version with preconfigured XCFE desktop and it's like a golden mean for me as I didn't had to set up most of the boring and problematic things but it's still kept simple and clean, doesn't have all the bloat from "user friendly" distros like Mint or Manjaro. What are your feelings about that? I am fine with that! I personally use it like any other Arch, setting it up from scratch, but at this point it's routine for me. Setting up a desktop environment is really, really easy actually; as easy as 'pacman -S lxqt', so I don't know why people always want preconfigured stuff - but I get wanting to have the peace of mind to get a working system right out of the box. When it comes to the Arch derivates; one of my girlfriends actually was one of the founding members of Manjaro and now actually warns against the project for its many technical and security flaws, like those you can see here: https://manjarno.snorlax.sh/ I like Mint personally though, it's a great entry point to GNU/Linux as a whole for people who just want to start out. It is what Ubuntu used to be before that went downhill. 297

♖ ∙ Games Cafe / Re: Favorite Online Game Revival Projects« on: December 21, 2022, 03:42:08 pm »I enjoy that the first Battlefield, Battlefield 1942, still has an active playerbase. It's one of my favorite shooters. 299
☕︎ ∙ Fun & Forum Games / Re: Corrupt a wish!« on: December 21, 2022, 03:40:53 pm »The dishes do wash themselves now. All the time. They jerk away under your cutlery, spill your food, make a mess in the kitchen, all because they feel like they need to clean themselves constantly. I wish I won't regret this wish. 300
☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: What drinks have you've been drinking as of lately?« on: December 21, 2022, 03:03:02 pm »Coffee and energy drinks keep me alive, I feel. It's not good, but... at least it works. |
