I don’t feel as strongly about it as you, but I do largely agree. These days I tend to prioritise gaming less, so I definitely prefer a shorter but expertly crafted experience over an open world game that’s been padded out with copy/paste content and fetch quests.

The main recent offender that springs to mind is FFXV. The FF series has always had the world map, but it felt like this time they really tried to go too big without enough content to really justify it. And now SqEnix seem to be going all-in on NFT stuff, so… not thrilled.

I just want a game that respects my time.

Chrono Trigger is great! I’m playing the iOS version on my phone at the moment. I used to play the SNES one, but I never managed to get more than about 1/3 of the way through. Now I’m a little more than 1/3. There’s no stopping me now.

That’s really cool! You’ve made me want to go play with masking techniques, now. Hmmm!

Also, I know what you mean about mixing professional stuff into web revival, but it also feels like a double edged sword.

If you want to receive mail from a stranger, I guess DM or email (email address is on the footer of my site) me an address at which you’re comfortable receiving mail from a stranger and whatever name you want written on it. Otherwise I’ll just use your forum username, which is fine by me but you might get weird looks from the people you live with.

Physics is wild. I'm a chunk of the way through listening to Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman and having a lovely time with it, but it only provides the smallest glimpse of how smart physicists are. Probably invented astrophysics just to study your own galaxy brains.

I always enjoy sending & receiving physical mail. I like it when people send me nice messages online, obviously, but there's also something special about getting an actual piece of paper or postcard in the mail.

What's the best place you've ever hiked? There are some lovely places near(ish) me. I think Cannock Chase is the most well known, but it's still pretty close to civilisation.

I was a long time Sublime Text user, but eventually moved to VSCode to be consistent with the rest of my team at work. Both are such good bits of software. I can’t remember the last time I’ve used a colour scheme other than Monokai.
