☞ ∙ Life on the Web / Re: Poll: What browser do you use?
« on: February 04, 2023, 04:11:48 pm »Does anyone know if there are any halfway decent browsers that don't have the modern 'flat' design, or how I could customize one to look like it?

« on: February 04, 2023, 12:02:10 pm »I haven't watched it yet but the history of Junji Ito anime is pretty rocky, so my expectations weren't very high in the first place
His unique and striking style is just very hard to replicate in animation, I guess!

« on: February 04, 2023, 11:59:34 am »Had some problems using Insert Quote in the new editor: also the new editor seems to be missing some features you've added like the webgardens, could that be right? (nevermind you're already aware)
Other than that, the new features are exciting and you're on a roll!

☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: Melonland's thoughts on The Backrooms?
« on: February 04, 2023, 11:55:12 am »(I had written a whole post but lost it all when I tried to quote someone :TnT:smile:
I do think that the whole concept has become unnecessarily diluted because the whole concept of endless bland wallpaper, monotone buzzing of fluorescent lights and the possibility of something being after you is basically a 'perfect' one-off horror concept. When the concept became meme horror people started to add on to that with more layers, levels, floors, whatever, and that just takes the fear of the original and divides it between the ideas of people with different views on what the concept should be. I do respect the SCP-like direction it has taken but I think the magic is gone too.
Fully agreed; IMO as soon as the original post said 'no-clipping through reality' the concept basically started to only appeal to gamers lol

The backrooms may have become too gamified, but given how it started maybe that was to be expected.

⛄︎ ∙ Forum Discussion / Re: Should reading posts be limited to members?
« on: February 04, 2023, 11:30:40 am »I feel like it's fine as it is right now so people know what they (can) sign up for, however if it's found out that bad actors are abusing the guest system then I would be fine with switching to user-only mode.

✁ ∙ Web Crafting / Re: Keeping motivation to code?
« on: February 03, 2023, 04:19:12 pm »It helps me to keep track of the things I want to implement and knock them down one at a time, but above all it helps me not to sweat the small stuff: if I get caught up in the tiniest of details to get it just right then at some point it's just not going to happen at all, so I try to go for the next best thing if I feel like it's going nowhere. Now if I was working on some very crucial code I might put in a little more elbow grease but working on my personal website is a For Fun thing so I'll just do whatever I want

♖ ∙ Games Cafe / Re: Do you think that our chosen characters suggests/reflects something about us?
« on: February 03, 2023, 12:14:50 am »I tend to pick the goofy funny characters: for instance, some of my mains are King Dedede (Smash Bros.), Joker (MK11) and Faust (Guilty Gear Strive). This tracks because when I play games I put the focus on fun above winning and would rather play fun character than a good character (although I definitely take great pride in winning with the goofiest characters out there
). It helps that in most games 'tiers' only really become relevant at high levels of play, and even then just playing this type of character can trip people up because they don't expect/know how to deal with it. So yes, the characters I play definitely say something about me

✑ ∙ Writers Corner / Re: Should we stop writing long posts?
« on: January 26, 2023, 10:29:14 pm »I feel like people should write as much as they want to be honest, be it a little or a lot, IMO it's all good if it has at least a little substance or thought put into it and even putting it like that makes it seem like a bigger deal than it is. Sometimes there's a lot to be said about a certain topic and other times few words will do trick so I don't think there's an end-all be-all solution!
