⛄︎ ∙ Forum Discussion / Re: BUG WATCH! - If you see a bug report it here!« on: February 15, 2023, 10:35:09 am »something that I've been noticing recently is that every time you visit a post or someone's profile the browser will automatically focus on the textarea to write a comment taking you to the bottom of the page and it gets a bit annoying 5

☮︎ ∙ Clubs, Events & Webrings / Re: 50 Dollar Club« on: February 08, 2023, 03:52:24 am »I'm sure that some people who have visited my blog already know about this and so do you Onio since I had said it in your chatbox already weeks ago, but I post it here as a reminder or something like that. At the beginning of December 2022 I was given an Acer Aspire 4315 laptop, with an Intel Celeron 530 CPU and 512MB of RAM. It came with Windows XP SP2 installed along with a bunch of programs and personal files from the previous owner of this laptop which I didn't give care for, apparently he has stopped using it in mid 2014 according to the latest modified files in the system. They never told me the price, they just gave it to me as a gift and that's all, so I don't know if this counts too. ![]() Due to security issues and out of self-interest, I decided to format it and install Linux instead. I chose antiX Linux as a distribution as it is very good for low resource systems like this one. I was having some problems using the last available version of antiX (22) such as Wi-Fi disconnections when downloading or similar, so I had to downgrade to version 19.5 which is working quite well. ![]() ![]() Something I also forgot to mention and that is that the battery drains pretty fast, it gets to last on for like 30 minutes or so and I have to be using it with a charger. And also the headphone and microphone ports don't work and I have to use one with USB instead. I currently use it for Gopher browsing with Lynx, SSH/SFTP, listening to music and playing simple and old games like Doom or ClassiCube. ![]() ![]() 8

☆ ∙ Showcase & Links / Red Robot Resurrection« on: January 24, 2023, 10:26:56 pm »![]() Hello, since December 2022 I've been secretly creating a small fansite dedicated to a "forgotten" web character called Red Robot, who was during 2001 and 2004 on several websites, blogs, webcomics, etc. https://geckof.dimension.sh/redrobot/ (or http://redrobot.igloocafe.space/) The website has a FAQ page and an archive of old stuff, as well as a webring, an photo gallery (it's still empty, I have nothing to add there right now) and a generic guestbook. There's also a Gopher version of the website but it's currently WIP. The design is inspired on my personal homepage and on the CSS of my other project, Igloo Cafe. In case anyone is interested and wants to join the webring, please read the rules written on the webring page and let me know on this post. Thanks! ![]() 10
☔︎ ∙ Help & Tutorials / Re: Help With WinAmp HTML« on: January 19, 2023, 04:14:38 pm »Following just a few examples from other people who have Webamp on their websites, you just should make the "initialTracks" array organized like this: Code Replace the artist, title and URLs to the music info you want to add. I don't know if this is what you were looking for but I hope it helps. 11
☔︎ ∙ Help & Tutorials / Re: ! ( how to get websites working on DSi? )« on: January 18, 2023, 10:08:13 pm »Is there a free site hosting place that doesnt need https so i can make a second site thats compatible with it? There's also http://geocities.club, it's a tiny recreation project of the 90's GeoCities made by some people of tilde.club that still works, doesn't have forced HTTPS and also offers free e-mail but does not seem to have been updated since 2 years according to the last annoucement. Just find a neighborhood, fill all the sign up form and there you go. I plan to use it for make a lite version of my website in the future. 12
✁ ∙ Web Crafting / Re: What software did you use to code your site?« on: January 08, 2023, 11:38:01 am »I mostly use WinSCP's built-in editor to edit my web pages via SFTP/FTP as well as nan:ha:vim when I'm in SSH or in a Linux shell. On Windows I sometimes use Sublime Text to edit my websites and some other projects on my own computer and on localhost webservers. 13

♖ ∙ Games Cafe / Re: Favorite Online Game Revival Projects« on: December 21, 2022, 05:51:22 pm »I enjoy that the first Battlefield, Battlefield 1942, still has an active playerbase. It's one of my favorite shooters. Ooh BF1942, I remember since 2012 I used to play a lot the Multiplayer Demo version that only contained a single map called Wake Island and used to appear a lot on such software download websites (ahem ahem, Softonic) and it was really fun to see so much action on a moderately small map. Unfortunately due to the closure of GameSpy in 2014 that version was entirely dead and without servers or even an alternate master server patch. Many years ago I wanted to play BF1942 Multiplayer again in the original CD version but I never managed to understand how to connect to a server cuz many of them used to kick me out for incorrect versions or something like that and I ended up stopping playing it entirely due of disinterest and because I don't feel it like I used to. It's a shame, I really miss all that chaos there used to be with so many players on that map and I'm surprised how overnight it became something that many people ended up forgetting about. 15
☞ ∙ Life on the Web / Re: Post your DeskTOP« on: December 17, 2022, 08:46:29 pm »This is my desktop of my Zorin OS Lite (it's a bit outdated and there's not much to see lol, I have not used my alternate hard drive with Linux since I changed my motherboard): ![]() My Windows ME VM: ![]() And this one from my Acer Aspire 4315 laptop with antiX Linux 19 (I don't think this can be called a "desktop" since it's actually a window manager). ![]() edit: Days ago I decided to replace my old Zorin OS installation to Linux Mint XFCE due to some performance problems I was having. Nothing new honestly, I simply reused the same wallpaper and tried to customize it almost the same to the Manjaro style. ![]()
