☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Most Interesting Job You've Had?
« on: February 17, 2023, 04:08:55 pm »
Recently, I have gotten a new job and it's super interesting but really hard to explain to people IRL. I've never had a job like this before, basically I work with my friend for this small business that sets up children's parties! I will insert some photos for examples, it's basically sleepover parties and its sooo cutely decorated.. when we were younger, both before we worked for them, we had a D&D themed party from them!

Basically, my job is to sort storage and there is "spa day parties" they need help with where they give the kids hairstyles, do their nails, etc. (I help with Glitter Tattoos).. You can probably see why this is hard to explain to my friends. One of them asked me if i was basically a glorified clown, and uh, yeah pretty much what it is  :ok:  :ok: I don't mind tho! I've always loved taking care of kids. Plus the job pays really well.

 This one is a lot more different from my previous jobs, I've done food prep jobs mainly before this.  :ohdear: (Albeit, in those experiences I was severely underpayed I also was NOT ALLOWED TO SIT  :ozwomp: .. Yeah, that undisclosed business it being sued for child labor law stuff at the moment too)

What is the most interesting job you've had? What did you have to do in it?

P.S. here are some example photos of what I do in my job basically -w-

Are you Canadian? We have ketchup flavoured chips here. I grew up not knowing that was a Canadian thing.

Personally I don't really like ketchup in general, which I guess is controversial as well.

Ketchup flavored chips are alright! They actually taste good, Although I don't think I could have the heart to have normal-potato-chips dipped in ketchupp

:ozwomp: I do not get what the big deal about peanut butter is  :ozwomp:

I strongly dislike peanut butter and I've always been teased for it when I was a kid!! Idk, it's just not that good? Honestly I would say its not good at all- I really hate the taste of peanuts  :sad: everyone just assumes I'm allergic when I tell them I dont like that stuff

I feel like the Wii U pulled off its traits better than the switch, I kinda wish the switch had a similar mechanism where you can have the tv-screen and then the screen on the gamepad. That feature was a lot of fun for games, like one of the Mario Parties where you can play as Bowser and trick the other players  :ok:  :ok:
plus it still made couch multiplayer a deal which I really appreciate. As much as I love online games there is so much that comes out of just simply playing with a friend beside you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qw65L1kulM

When I was younger, my friend would bring their Wii U to school even. And we would just play games only with the gamepad screen  :ohdear:  :ohdear: (A bit confusing) Haha, they would literally just hook up the console to an outlet and we would only have the gamepad and a few controllers. Albeit, I think that's definitley an experience that will be kept with me forever.

I agree its the most underappreciated though, barely do i hear word about the wii u even though there were so many iconic games!

also, I feel like the N64 overshadows GameCube so much. GameCube was THE perfect console to me personally. Not even out of nostalgia reasons, it just had the best games and the best controller.

What was your solution?? The future wants to know  :dive:

I decided to instead customize the scrollbar to have a more minimalist approach instead of getting rid of it entirely  :omg: better to work with what I have then stressing out over something that isnt such a biggie in the long run.  :ok:  :ok:

(I have a theory, also, that maybe neocities was delaying my website code being updated haha  :drat:)

Hmm.. I tried it but I can still see the scrollbars, maybe I'll wait to go home and see how it looks on a regular ol' pc? I'm using my school laptop rn :ohdear: :ohdear:
thanks a lot for a much cleaner coding layout though  :chef: this will help a lot so i can just focus on the CSS aspect of the problem

https://dotmidi.neocities.org/Home-Page/frameset
 so i decided to have THREE FRAMES, one with links to friends on the side, the other is a directory

however, since i coded this new frameset the scrollbars r all visible, i don't know how to code them to be invisible (but still functional) i've tried everything, i went to the overall frameset and tried to code the scrollbar, i even went to the individual frames but to no avail

if anyone knows how i can get rid of the scrollbars on my frames pls teach me  :ozwomp:

Code
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

   <head>
      <title>tha homepage!!</title>
   </head>
   <style>

   </style>
   <frameset cols = "20%, 60%, 20%" frameborder="0">

         <frame src = "https://dotmidi.neocities.org/base.html" name = "main_page"; />
         <frame src="https://dotmidi.neocities.org/friends" name = "friends";>

IDK if this Forum Topic has been done before but feel free to confess your unpopular opinions  :smile:  :smile:

 This is a space to have nuanced conversations about things and to express your opinions on subject matters (that still apply to the forum rules, be respectful to other users!) ur opinions can vary from shows, songs, pet peeves, etc! :4u:

For example, my unpopular opinion is that I hate grape flavored candy.  :tongue: it tastes medicinal to me
actually, i despise a lot of candy flavors .. grape, green apple, watermelon, and most citrus flavors i abhor  :ohdear:

What are your thoughts on Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities and his new Pinocchio film? I loved Pinocchio but only really enjoyed half of the Cabinet of Curiosities stories. I'm otherwise a huge del Toro fan.
Pinnochio was great! Really great, I've seen it three times now.. It's so crazy how the guy can transcend so many genres and make beautiful engaging stories with them.. Also, I just like how on-par it was to the actual pinocchio story and all and giving it a more darker theme was a good way to go.. especially with how the other pinocchio movie came out as a huge flop.
As for Cabinet of Curiosities I don't think I've seen that yet, i'm not really into the one-off-tale episodic shows (kinda why i never even gave black mirror a chance  :drat: still havent watched any of that either)

My favourite is still First Contact but Generations is a close second.

I dont know the Star Trek stuff by name (i kinda just get forced to watch stuff by my trekkie friends) but I like the movie with the whale in it  :cheesy:  :cheesy:  :cheesy:

I.. uhm.. well.. if...

if I were to decide going by how influential, varied, and experimental an album is, I'd say the white album from The Beatles first and "Q: Are we not men? A: We are Devo!" second. That's just how I feel this very moment, though.

Beatles was definitely one of my runner ups, I agree. They are extremely influential to the generations past them.
