☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: Weird local festivals and events« on: December 19, 2022, 01:02:12 pm »In my town we have Kekri celebration on the first Saturday of November, the remnants of the old harvest festival. Big goat is built out of straw and transported to the middle of the river. People gather on the shores to watch as it is lit on fire and it burns down. There are stands of people selling their crafts and carts selling street food and warm soup & drinks. I know a few other towns have since picked up the goat burning, but I'm pretty sure we started this. And no, this has nothing to do with the Gävle goat.Vimeo embed doesn't seem to be working. Well here is what I tried to embed. 122
☞ ∙ Life on the Web / How did you come up with your username? Why did you choose it?« on: December 19, 2022, 12:16:50 pm »How did you come up with your username? Why did you choose it? I picked this one because I recently had a dream I used this username on the internet. I've never had it before123
♖ ∙ Games Cafe / Re: What are you playing (or have finished)?« on: December 19, 2022, 12:03:35 pm »I have revived my old Fate/hollow ataraxia save from my old laptop. Maybe time to finally continue playing after years, I'm somewhere around 27%. 124
☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: Do you like cooking?« on: December 19, 2022, 10:14:22 am »Hmm I only do it because I need to eat. I'm not very good at it. I can't practice anything nicer either because I only ever cook/bake for myself. Recipes are usually for multiple people like pie or cake, I can't eat all of that alone. 125
⛽︎ ∙ Technology & Archiving / Re: Laptop Recommendations« on: December 19, 2022, 10:04:06 am »Lenovo products have failed me so I probably wouldn't pick one but I guess if you're mostly browsing the web it might work? 126

✁ ∙ Web Crafting / Re: What do you find annoying about websites?« on: December 17, 2022, 01:06:21 pm »When I explore a web ring, and the next page doesn't have the widget so I can't continue. (Yesterweb+ fixes this for their web ring, but there's nothing for the others) Also if the next website is broken so you can't continue ![]() It's annoying if the menu is difficult to find (maybe it doesn't exist?) and then if you click on the menu to go to a different section, the menu disappears so you need to return to the front page with the browser's back button to browse the other links. 129
☕︎ ∙ Fun & Forum Games / Re: What decade were you born in?« on: December 15, 2022, 11:07:33 am »I was born in 98 and I started actively surfing the internet at around 5-6 years old, so basically as soon as I could read and write. I never made a website on Geocities but I did visit some sites that were on there. Missed Myspace because I didn't know English. I made my own websites on different places other than Geocities. That was my childhood and preteen years. As a teen I was mostly on Tumblr. I feel like it still has a bit of that old vibe available though visually if you want to design your blog that way. 130
☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: cant cheer up« on: December 15, 2022, 10:52:17 am »I'm so sorry that happened to you! Treat yourself with something tasty. Hope you find a good laptop soon as well 131
☺︎ ∙ Chat & General Interests / Re: Things that bring meaning to your life?« on: December 15, 2022, 10:36:02 am »I've definitely been in a bad year recently... But I've thought it's stories. The ability to experience so many wonderful tales, ancient and new. I also love hoarding information of the most random stuff ![]() (Since somebody mentioned hiking,) I live in a region with many hills since it was a mountain range millions of years ago (see, a random fact). This year I decided I want climb to the peak of as many of them as I can. I climbed Vuokatinvaara last autumn. Now I just need to wait for the snow to melt (the paths could be slippery). The scenery is breathtaking even though they're not mountains. But family and friends are the most important aren't they. Couldn't survive without them. 132
❤︎ ∙ Greetings and Introductions / Re: Hello everyone« on: December 15, 2022, 10:15:03 am »Welcome! Thank you. I feel like many people rather go with the road that gives you the most engagement in numbers. I totally understand it, but I've never been very good at using social media ![]() 133
© ∙ Music Room / Re: AMVs of the 00s !!« on: December 14, 2022, 08:42:31 pm »Nowadays I'm a grumpy grandpa shaking my cane at "kids" and their 5-seconds-long rapid-fire edits where you can barely see the character before it's over and half the frames are repeating, I mean sure they're also complicated to make (I've tried! My respect!), but where's the fun in that? I still make my AMVs (etc.) long, even though they're out of fashion I guess it's easier to avoid copyright with the short things vs full song as well as heavy editing vs clips getting caught in content ID? I kind of stopped making AMVs when everything got removed for copyright. Nowadays my videos are like 10 seconds and the audio is something funny and I make the characters on screen say it. Way less of a hassle ^^''' 134
❤︎ ∙ Greetings and Introductions / Re: Hello everyone« on: December 14, 2022, 07:39:29 pm »Hi Cele, welcome to the forum Thank you. I recently got a friend to make a Neocities account at least but there isn't anything on there so far, I wonder if she'll ever actually make the site haha 135
✁ ∙ Web Crafting / Re: What are some things that should be on every site?« on: December 14, 2022, 07:35:29 pm »*cold sweat runs down my forehead as i realize i don't have a links page* Usually on websites the first thing I check is the about. |
