Yooow! This is super cool! :ozwomp:
Good one Melon. I don't know much about webgardens but now I'll go and do some research. Great job for implementing this in the forum! :transport:

Thank you for considering this :4u:

Quoting my own opinion from another thread:

Personally, if you ask me, I don't feel like it matches the spirit of this forum and old web revival. I don't want it to become a closed garden like so many other sites out there. One should already take into consideration that everything we post on the internet is public and "out there". This information should be free! Not locked behind yet another login screen. Why shouldn't the world see this beautiful community and get inspired by it?

People with ill intentions would definitely go through the minor hassle of making a user.

Also, if I couldn't view the wonderful topics here before I registered, I don't think I would've ever made this account.

In your own words from Intro to the Web Revival:

"They value the ideals of free shared information and global connectivity expressed on the early internet."

Of course, it is your own forum at the end of the day, so you can do what you see to be right. But please do think about it from this perspective.

Just my humble opinion.

This is not a bug actually; I locked out public viewing because its a bit of a privacy issue - it means that anything anyone says on here is exposed not just to randos on the web or banned people, but also to google etc - Im happy to switch it back if people really don't like it; but I feel a lil less exposed with more limited access!

I suddenly can't view topics on any category if I'm not logged in

⛺︎ ∙ Cinema / Your favorite anime tropes?
« on: February 03, 2023, 01:54:49 am »
Japanese animation is a source full of a lot of fun tropes! From shiny glasses, a character hilariously losing their color, big comical sweatdrops, etc.

One of my favorite ones is definitely the "Face Fault" trope where characters drop hard to the floor when something surprising/embarrassing happens. It never fails to make me laugh!

I also really like this "unaffected opponent" fighting trope which appears a lot in Dragon Ball Z. Even better when it's a one heavy punch accompanied with a massive shockwave, yet the opponent remains perfectly still. Coolest thing ever!

Uh, this image:

53
Oops my tip was WRONG :cheesy:

Now I can post in your image association thread! :ozwomp:

54
Looks very good! Thank you!

EDIT: Image resizing doesn't appear to work.

I do very much like these thoughts! Very good analysis. They all also do seem to follow a common theme! Very similar types.

I also prefer close and personal kind of warriors, nothing like a good bonk from a melee weapon or fist. I wonder if this preference is also indicative of some specific similarities between us? :unite:

Oh, and I forgot I have a Nioh 2 installation on my PC. I also have a created one! My created character:

Yep, still consistent! :ozwomp:

Does anyone use the url tags this way though? These days people just copy paste:

https://mysite.com

No tag needed.

And yeah I do agree that the male-female ratio stats isn't necessary. However, it would be nice to have it in my own profile just to complete that basic ASL, you know? Completely optional of course.

If anything, preferred pronouns would be more useful.

I do not agree that preferred pronouns is an agreeable solution for all people. If anything, both should exist!

Thank you for all your hard work Melon! :4u:

Here is my list of feature requests, mostly related to the "Post reply" and "New topic" form.

- When posting a reply or a new topic, the current main and sub categories should be presented and clear at the top of the page. (Example: Interests Zone > Chat & General Interests).

- Give us the ability to highlight specific reply text and QUOTE!

- When previewing a post, the user's chosen default color, font and font size should display in the output.

- The "Insert Hyperlink" button seems to have no default use case as URLs are already automatically converted to hyperlink. It should be modified for alias use case instead. So this:

Code
[url=][/url]

Instead of this:

Code
[url][/url]

- A quick BBCode guide/cheatsheet at the bottom of the post form may be helpful! (Define img dimensions and alignments, etc.)

- Let me set "Male" in my profile and contribute to the Male to Female Ratio in Stats!

Thank you :4u:

Let me test this real quick.

EDIT: It works! Thank you Melon for the quick fix! :unite: :ozwomp:

EDIT 2: Empty spaces still visible when viewing Recent Posts and Own Posts.

Not much of a bug but surely needs to be looked into. Empty extra spaces at the end of a message should be automatically collapsed. Sometimes it accidentally happens as a result of my many edits while writing my message, and I did not understand why some of my posts looked slightly off!

Good points. I did not think about it this way and it definitely sounds like this approach may have some truth to it in the context of this thread.

I did not play HarvestMoon and honestly I found it a bit hard to get into in-game romances in general. However I think I would most likely choose the same personalities as I would in real life as I always adored those characters too. More accurately, they may be my first, main pursuits while the mentioned other type would be in my secondary playthroughs because I would be very curious! Honestly the interactions could be very interesting :eyes:

I think that physical features of the characters do play a role (and therefore attraction) and it gets even a few layers more complex when it's about the depiction of the sex you're attracted to. There might be a weight between personality and physical appearance when choosing a character. And about the sex you're not attracted to? I believe there's still some complex physical preferences which goes beyond just your basic facial symmetry. Sometimes you even think that inhuman character is just cool, stylish looking, and that's another set of preferences and layers of reasons.

I don't think I could even pinpoint my own exact physical preferences in real life even though I kind of tried to. There's a general direction, but always minor inconsistencies, nothing fits into a box.

But doesn't it feel like it still begs the question, why them in particular? I feel like it's possible for me to apply the same logic you suggested to other characters within the rosters of those games. Yet I don't feel as drawn to them.

Oh, and then there's the gameplay layer which surely takes part in this. It's a big spaghetti. We must go even deeper Melon.
