I should look into getting a Discman. I mostly listen to Cassettes, and use CDs just for ripping tracks to my computer, but whenever I actually use the CD in a player, it feels oddly weird and nostalgic, especially when you listen to a 90s album!

Basketball. Don’t really care for hockey.

Simpsons or Futurama?

So far this year, I’ve completed Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Forces and Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, with all achievements unlocked.

All 3 are excellent games in my opinion, and were easy for me to platinum them.

I’ve just started Dead Rising 3 because me and a friend Co-Oped Dead Rising 2 and we plan to do 3, but first I need to do a singleplayer portion to unlock Co-Op, which I did, and I really enjoy what I played so far! Feels like they improved all of the problems Dead Rising 2 had!

I’m also slowly playing through Resident Evil 0 and Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg. Neither game works on Proton, so I need to play them on Windows. Problem is, I rarely use Windows, but when I do, I make an effort to play a little from each game and progress in them a little.

Also downloading Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake on Linux as we speak (I’d use the disc, but that only works on Windows), so going to start that soon! Can’t wait!

I know this game is both controversial to some and overblown to others, but I can't make myself to put Cyberpunk 2077 down whenever I have time and opportunity to play.

I've beat the main campaign multiple times and these days I just come back to it…for the world? I also love to see what the modding community does with the game. So right now (or rather a few weeks back when I still had time to play) I installed multiple immersion mods (survival mod to eat/sleep/drink, a cyberpsychosis mod, a drinking-in-bars mod, etc etc) and just…it's a sumulator for me by this point. I'm living out the dream of being invincible and parkouring off of high buildings without fear. Among other things.

That being said I love the story and the characters also, it's just that at this point I've learned it by heart and am waiting for the DLC.

But it's literally the first time I've wanted to just exist in a game and come back to it with nothing much to do but roleplay.

Apparently CDPR scratched some itch I didn't know I had.
Oh my god, I’m not alone! I absolutely loved that game! I beat the campaign multiple times, with each role, and got every ending, even that secret one that’s difficult and tedious to get and beat!

I heard they’re making a sequel and I’m so hyped for it!

I have an Escargot: cobradile@escargot.chat

Personally I think the idea is kinda cute but at the same time I feel like these themselves were the first part of the downfall with their proprietary protocols and clients, the beginning of spyware, corporate control over messaging, paid services and so on. They were the first behemoths usurping the messaging market for themselves, limiting interactibility, accessibility and custom clients.
If I want to do "retro" messaging, I go to chatrooms, or use XMPP or IRC. They're free and open source and much closer in spirit to what most of us are here for I feel. :pc:
Why not use both? I just have Mercury running in the background on my phone and MSN whenever I'm on Windows (10 or 9:cool:, and if anyone wants to reach out to me personally, they can.

I've recently bought a cheap DVD player and started burning some of my favorite movies and TV shows on disks.

My family teases me about it, but hey, to each their own. It was very funny though when I put on a DVD disk for the first time in a while and my first reaction was "Wait, where did the quality go?" before I promptly realized that there's a reason why DVD-rip torrents are always in worse quality than direct WebRips of newer shows or why the HQ multi-GB versions of 2000s movies do not exist (unless re-released later) Our memory sure does smooth the rough edges!

That being said, it's hardly a big deal breaker when you're watching on TV from a considerable distance away.

Haha! That was exactly my reaction when watching back VHS Mixtapes I make for the first time! I always think the quality turns out terrible, but is something that can't be helped.

But if I watch it after watching a pre-recorded tape, I find the quality is brilliant by comparison! I got a bunch of tapes of The Adventure of Sonic the Hedgehog (the one where Robotnik says PINGAS!), and I happen to have recently made a mixtape full of Sonic videos, most of them Youtube Poops of that very show. The quality is way better on the mix tape.

I'm guessing this is because in the early 90s, they probably had to work with analogue remasters, the resolution of which is much lower than the method I use to make my tapes. So chances are, it might be the same with DVD to a certain degree, since the masters are way higher res and more clear than what was used back when DVDs were the primary format for movies.

I'm curious, how do you put films on DVD? Do you use a certain DVD Authoring software?

Same for music CDs. I have some bought and I have some burned, but like. The habit of just putting your headphones on and turning on your mp3s is so strong! (At least I've mostly moved on to mp3s over streaming though. Although I do miss the bonus of 'recommended' playlists and finding new music that way.)

I've seen a few people make "Mix CDs" lately. I'm personally more of a tapehead myself, but it's good to see people putting digital songs on a physical format and making playlists!

(Now I just need to happen to have it on hand every time a photo opportunity presents itself. Which, you know... a lost damn habit again)
Just have a bag on you at all times when out, and your camera in said bag. That's what I do. I feel naked without my bag, so I never forget it.

It makes me sad when people refer to them as "obsolete," as people don't realize that just because they're out of style doesn't mean they're worthless. It brings meaning back into photography in an age where you can whip out a phone and just snap a picture. By having to adjust to the light, frame the picture just right, and pray it develops well, it creates more meaning through that connection to the photo and the effort one has to go through to make just one picture good! (Plus, lens filters are a blast lmao)
I actually think film is in the same situation as vinyl records. Sure, to many, they are obsolete, but to others, the quality can't be beat, and they have a warm analogue feel to them.

I can see it making the same kind of comeback, and I think it is. Film is hard to get right now because demand has exceeded supply. New film cameras are being made and Kodak brought back a previously discontinued type of film!

I remember going to one of the few places left in my city that develops film, and they told me that loads of people are starting to use film again. (I would do them myself, but I don't have room for a dark room, and I really can't be bothered scanning every photo to digitise them. Plus it's cool getting CDs of the photos when you come back for them!)

That almost certainly means your trying to connect to forum.melonking - all the buttons and links will try and redirect you to melonland - so your logged into melonland.net but you keep trying to connect to melonking - update your links and it should fix everything
Well, I'm not sure if YW+ is being supported any more, it seems to default to melonking and there's not much I can do about that.

Thanks, anyway!

Great :cheesy: I will leave this option turned off! (It just means that when you login with YW+, your account is a bit less secure, but only if your computer is compromised in some way - aaanndd I dont think there are many hackers out there trying to steal your ML account )
Okay, nevermind, I just got logged out... and suddenly logged back in...

This is weird...

EDIT: Okay, I think I realise what's going on. It shows me as logged off in the index page, but if I navigate to any page other than the login screen, it logs me back in. I think this might be the case even when the HTTPS setting was on.

I would consider here
Yeah, I'd say this forum is definitely a cozy space for me.

I think the coziest space for me on the web is this site called The Kombat Pavillion, which is a Mortal Kombat fan site. It's a classic style web, has about every MK fan content on it at least up until 2019, so naturally has hundreds if not thousands of pages, and the iframe layout means you can explore to your hearts content, but can always find your way back home if you so desire.

I also find the 2006-2009 Youtube layout to be "cozy". Probably because it was basically my second home at the time.
