fortunately, the moose came across a wax museum and found some tasty almost-humans to nibble on!

i think this is a great homepage!! im really into the round navigation, and would love to see more as you progress!

i thought about this before i got my latest domain, cinni.net. at first i considered some variation of cinni-dreamworld.net etc, but ultimately landed on my current domain because the short url seemed cuter and easier to remember! tee-hee

« on: December 14, 2021, 03:52:51 am »
oooh ! :-O i'll have to try to dig up my favorite recipes or write down my recipes some day...

lately i've been really into making ice cream w/ my ice cream machine. one of my fav things to make in the summer is a frozen yogurt/ice cream mix. it involves...

2 C heavy cream
1 C greek or full-fat yogurt
3/4 C sugar
2 eggs

mix sugar+eggs first, then liquids. churn for 20~ish mins on the machine. add anything else you want! (this lends really well for fruity flavors, for ex. 1/4 C orange concentrate, or lemon juice+zest, or 1/2 C cantaloupe blended up & strained!) if adding chunks, wait until last 2 minutes of churning. :-) after 20 mins put into container and freeze another 2 hrs! with fruit, the more concentrated/less water = the better, as the water will crystalize ur ice cream :-<

ice-cream aside, i loved to use recipes from the post-punk kitchen when i was vegan, though i started eating dairy again lol. https://www.theppk.com/

<3 i appreciate the feedback every1!

Thank you for this VAST reply! And don't worry about delays answering, the joy of a forum is that time is not important, posts can be days or weeks or YEARS apart and its all fine.

Also thank you for the video, now I just need to learn Blender to make more sense of it  It answers my biggest overall question which was, is it raw poly editing, and it is!

I don't have many more big questions, it sounds like a really good project and everything you say makes sense. I think people will prob respond to it really well, although you've got a lot of work to add in all the stuff you talk about. Not doing multiplayer is a good plan, I think you've got enough here, although a multi town would be cool too!

I suppose the last and worst question is! How long to you think its going to take?
Annnd assuming you're answer is multiple months to years, I know the kind of issues I run into with big projects, and I assume others here run into these issues too. How do you handle doing large/long projects without losing interest? Do you get overwhelmed by ideas/tasks that need doing? And if so how do you manage that?

i agree, forums are grrrreat! i didn't realize how much i missed them! :pc:

tbh, who knows how long it will take LOL. maybe some years - i don't really have a concrete plan yet, but that's okay. i noticed i tend to work in smaller bursts on projects - i'll devote my attention back n forth between drawing, or 3d, or music, or coding to keep myself 'busy' but not entirely burnt out on my ideas. i'll tend to move on from an idea until a while later i'll revisit it with a fresher mind. it feels less like i'm trying to make a game and more like i'm trying to expand upon a universe :-p virtual worlds r a cool way to experience that.

as far as the game-dev side, i certainly get overwhelmed but i try to set small goals. i'm working at a slower pace since i haven't had a chance to work on this for a while lol, but it started out with learing to make cutscenes, then switching between scenes, dialogue, basic player controls like switching cameras, etc! next on my list is to make an inventory system, changing outfits/appearance, driving, n making more buildings / interior scenes!

thanks so much everyone! i'm glad you are enjoying it :loved:

Wow, I haven't seen one of these in ages...it's fantastic to see someone keeping the oekaki tradition alive! I completely missed the intial wave Back In The Day...I legitimately just thought "oekaki" was a word to describe people who used MS Paint to create art (whoops). It's nice to have an opportunity to finally try it out for real. On another note, I love the theme and the "logo" you've designed for the site. Although, that may just be another way of saying, I think you really have the old-school web aesthetic down to a T while also keeping it fresh

Was there any particular inspiration for getting this set up? Or just a fun web experiment?

first off, i love your drawing that you posted so much! AHHHH ;w;

im glad u like the logo! i was trying to evoke old video game vibes n got the font from this graphic designer i follow. i have tons of pixel fonts but i thought this one was unique enough to purchase bwahaha. i got 'em here. their other fonts are so crazy good tooooo

i used to go on oekaki boards back in the day, when they were more popular. i think i would lurk/doodle in a few oekaki boards run by popular deviantart artists. i always thought it was so cool that you could play back animations of drawings! at the ~height~ of oekaki board-ism there was much more of a system in place - some sites had a sketch board, and to be able to draw in the main board you had to apply - AND if you were *really* good you would be able to draw in the ~special~ oekaki board, LOL. the communites were way bigger back then, though.

anyways, since i started neocities i always wanted to create my own oekaki board, but with a more chill/cozy vibe. OFC with static hosting it wasn't really an option, so when i heard about leprd.space i jumped right on that so i could finally make the oekaki board of my dreams haha. i noticed that oekaki boards were more rare now which just made me want to make one so much more!

today i officially put in my resignation at work. it was a toxic shitty work environment for the last 3 years, underpaid n overworked and totally a strain on my mental health, i was always on the edge of a breakdown and now i am FREEEEE (in a few weeks). i wanted to leave forever ago but finally had the courage 2 do it after being offered a potential big time freelance gig doing what i love (making art). the future is still uncertain but now i have the chance to do better things n work on my mental health. the burn out was REAAAALL.

phew. now the weekend starts for me :ozwomp:

→ freewebs.com/watermelony - i think my earliest personal site circa 2006. no trace of it exists :'(

A long lost melon site! Great intrigue and mystery is afoot :omg:

WAIT i LIED, i swear i looked through the web archive many times but somehow found a deadlink on my old deviantart account and long story short, here's some traces of it saved on the archive: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.freewebs.com/watermelony//* :omg: just some warrior cats .bmp files, like this uber 2006-era furry drawing dfsdgd

i'm super bummed not more of it has been saved (and it was archived in 2013, does that mean i couldve saved it all those years ago if i just had the foresight?? :-o) but i havent seen this art in forever, so either way im glad a *tiny* bit survived.

also, browsing through my deviantart account made me find my OG neopets account, and the fact that i sometimes used the username 'cinnimelon' haha
