i feel like the comet followed by the crosette is a bit of an underdog in a firework show, so i have to root for it TwT i love big fireworks, but i appreciate the burst of small fireworks too!
oooh so many!! >_< games ive yet to play but want to: space channel 5, gitaroo man!! parappa the rapper, the katamari series, animal crossing, to name a few ヽ(*・ω・)ノ
using UnityEngine;
using System.Collections;
public class helloWorld : MonoBehaviour
{
public GameObject world;
private void OnTriggerEnter(Collider world){
Debug.Log("Hello" +gameObject.name);
}
}
as usual, instead of doing work i procrastinated and made some more game objects
i'm currently working on the interior of the deli. i wanted to channel katamari damacy in my approach of low-poly but graphic objects. i also have been replaying the game again, so the inspiration is fresh in my mind..
mostly drinks, and some pet items
low poly store items, i took the textures from old phone pictures i had of a deli that closed down
new npc alert! her design is loosely inspired by house painter clothes (paint splatter jeans, those gloves). also working on the deli counter, needs more clutter...
current layout of all the objects.. i plan to move everything around for the final concept
As always, fantastic looking! How long does a character take you to do start to finish? There's a lot of small detail going on here and texturing that must all take quite a while! Also where do their personalities and fashions come from?
it quite depends! after i make the first character, i copy + paste the model and change it from there, so sometimes i re-use assets between them but making things like hair takes a while. so maybe a few days before they're complete!
as far as fashion goes, the main character (first) is heavily influenced by the gyaru subculture (and manga like gojinko monogatari)! the pants are a reference to the brand alba rosa, a gyaru staple haha. i wanted her to be very fashion-y and of course with lots of outfit changes for the game :-P
devil girl is very much inspired by the post-punk aesthetic and the subverted suit, like johnny lydon from public image ltd haha. in fact she's supposed to be wearing a PIL shirt :B (also taking inspo from characters like nana osaki from nana!)
third was inspired by cowboy aesthetics haha. more specifically i took design inspirations from characters like gyro from JJBA (hat, scarf/cape, big belt), ace from one piece (hat, flames), yoko from gurren lagann, etc! i also like to add asymmetrical elements for added visual interest, so i was thinking a lot about duality / opposites, like an angel on one side and the devil on the other! it's really a variation of ace's hat design, i wanted to change it up enough but also keep that motif haha.
lastly, angel chara is similarly inspired by post-punk looks, but a more modern/trendy version of it... i don't even know what to call this style haha. but i wanted to include graffiti, black metal scribbles, etc elements. thiiiinggs like you would find at a brand like souldog or lefthandLA or yard666sale
fun fact, her shirt sleeve says "no" and her pant leg says "thing", so together it says nothing.. :omg:k:
a very belated thank you to everyone! n_n i'm ready to take a month to sleep LOL but i'm so glad to be getting out of there. hope everyone is having a nice holiday (⌒▽⌒)☆
i liked the original theme, cause it had a cozy and nostalgic feel but was on a theme-editing kick haha. i thought of this as a light alternative, but high/low contrast also works! lol i wondered if some of the styling was a little too low contrast, so for example i added a text shadow to the white text to help with readability (* ̄▽ ̄)b
ヽ(・∀・)ノ great topic!! my short-story is, i wanted to make a website for my virtual gallery project on wix, got frustrated that i couldnt use iframes like i remember from my neopets days, then decided i wanted to learn html again and found neocities lol. i've never looked back... ╰(*´︶`*)╯
What inspired you/made you want to create a personal website?
after finding neocities, i wanted to make cinni.net because i felt the internet was missing something, i missed the community aspect of pixel trading and web rings, and finding personal websites that were lovingly hand-crafted. when i was a kid in the early 00's, i was so obsessed with these pixel sites like yume studio or scribbleland (seriously, go experience all the different layouts on the wayback machine, theyre all so goooood.) i loved looking at pixel dolls and adoptables, surfing the internet to find new ones, and designing website layouts on paper haha. then i realized how fragile the internet is, and how undocumented the culture of the early 'net is. i really wanted to preserve these sites and bring back aspects of them like pixel trading, providing web goodies, linking to other sites, and encouraging creativity and others to make their own website. :-3
ALSO, a big part of it was feeling jaded with social media and wanting to carve out a space on the internet for myself. i felt like i had to put up a persona on instagram since so many ppl i know IRL followed me (like old bosses, professors). i felt like i couldnt share anything unless it was 'perfect'. that self-imposed pressure just made me never post... but with my own personal website, i get the satisfaction of learning a new skill, making my own space how i want it with zero pressure to ~succeed~ or whatever haha. i can share my anime figure collection on my site, who cares
What are some challenges you've faced in the process of creating and maintaining a site?
learning html/css as a hobby is a process, lol.. though i think my biggest issue rn is handling all my files, since i didn't plan for expanding my site so much. i do everything manually in neocities so the thought of re-structuring everything is..eep.
Imagine your site five years from now (even if you may or may not be running the same site five years down the line, or may have closed it out as a completed project)... What do you think it will look like, or what would you want it to look like?
i've had my site for a good three years now, so i imagine 5 years (i hope) it will still be up, maybe a different layout, more content, who knows! i like to think of a personal site as a record of my life, so even if i don't maintain it i'd like for it to be up as long as possible. (* ̄▽ ̄)b
i started using retroshare recently (a p2p software), which has an IRC chat :-D a few other folks from the yesterweb discord are on there. otherwise, i havent used IRC in forever, not since the AIM days.. :omg:k:
question: how would i go about setting up an automatic rss feed? i want to set one up for my oekaki board so it updates every time there's a new post. any help appreciated!
Interesting how this was technically how Twitter was meant to be used, but I never used Twitter like that. I think it's because this can basically act as a billboard on my site, so it's easier for me to conceptualize this as a status updater than Twitter.
yes good point! i like that i can embed it & customize it! i was just thinking how i wanted to expand on the "site stats" section of my site so this was the perfect thing haha. i also never cared for twitter, used it once in like 2011 and left forever
@Cinni LMAO...the bravery of this suggestion. An ice cream maker has been on my radar this year, maybe it'll be time to bite the bullet once the weather takes a turn back to the warmer. I appreciate the notes on getting the consistency just so, I think that is one of the harder parts of homemade ice cream for sure.
The recipes from the PPK look amazing. Do you have any favorites from the list? The Earl Gray Chai Pancakes look and sound really good...truly, breakfast foods are the meals of champions.
Thanks for the responses
LMAO you *did* specify it didnt have to be soup! :omg:k:
as far as the ppk, i think some recipes are no longer up on the site? (but it's been a few years so my memory isn't great lol) HOWEVER i really enjoyed this spicy peanut eggplant stew (and i am picky about eggplant!) aaaand lately ive been thinking about making this dill/rosemary dumpling soup again...
if you feel like doing more prep work, i also loved these chickpea cutlets (made with seitan) or their recipes for mac n cheese using cashews, tbh i can't remember which specific recipe i used back in the day but i'm sure they're all delicious :-9 but a lot of work if you aren't vegan! haha.
i'm also struggling to find this exact recipe, but i used to make a moroccan lentil n chickpea soup with veggies n noodles, which i'm sure you can improvise and it will still taste good LOL as long as you've got some coriander n cumin etc!
another recipe i like to make is roasted brussel sprouts w/ a sugary/vinegary sauce, which goes something liiiikee:
1/2 C sugar 1/2 C white vinegar lots of: sliced green onions, cayenne pepper, salt n pepper, anything else
wash n cut n half all ur brussel sprouts, coat in oil, salt + pepper and bake in the oven aaaat idk, 375F for 20-25 mins or until crispy at the edges / browned. i would keep ur sprouts dry so it gets crunchy. then i would cook the sugar + vinegar on the stove until sugar dissolves, then put in all the fun stuff and douse the brussel sprouts in it - and tada, the best veggies :-B
