hi! i'm still at the very beginning of my coding journey but i very recently started to finally work on my very own webpage. honestly, i am just doing trial and error and gathering ideas currently. i should write down a few things i would like to work on, really..

silly little webpage with nothing special going on! :3
compared to everyone else it is probably super boring but whatever!!! also, i am really addicted to all the various 88x31 buttons. they are so pretty and flashy.

i am really excited to learn however. i've never really looked much into coding, but this is already so much fun!

I've been working a little bit on a lot of things, but the one I've made the most progress on lately and been the most excited about is some stuff for my stream!

I made a stream starting soon screen with a transition I put a lot of effort into making look as unprofessional as possible while still being nice to look at, which was surprisingly hard! So much of the tools I use are really tailored to making things look as clean and professional as possible, so making them look a little sketchy is hard but rewarding. I also have added a bunch of cute and fun gifs that relate to the games I am playing, and also put together this cool gif for a game I plan to play later this year!

I made it using sprite rips to recreate an animation from King Kong: The Official Mobile Game Of The Movie (2005) and I think that's super cool since I didn't know this game existed at all a short time ago, and it seems close to being lost media now. The reason I made it is that I have a playthrough, review, and whole personal little long-form bit planned around playing Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie (2005) for the PS2. It's a game that I feel like a lot of people don't know about but is hugely influential in games as a medium in general! And also has a funny name  :ok:

I've also been working less intensely or successfully on trying to get started on making a strategy game in Godot, which has been surprisingly hard! Implementing grid-based movement in the Godot engine is very new to me, when making games I'm much more used to text based navigation which is so simple in comparison.

I had a limited access for some time and the computer I was using blocked Javascript EVERYWHERE. I cannot tell you how many websites weren't available to browse or were displayed horribly. I went to my own website, forgetting that I started to rely heavily on JavaScript more and more for styling.

Some of the stuff was okay but the most recent pages were a calamity. So when I got back to my place, I decided to take off all JS from my website. It's quite difficult but I'm working on replacements and there's some I'm pretty proud of. So yeah, cleaning JS and changing all the related HTML and CSS.

Quite extreme but living with a machine that locked JS was reall eye opening on the modern web. My site should be available on these machines.

as someone who uses js a lot and heavily doubts i could stop doing so, i'm wondering how often such a case occurs? in what context does one end up on a machine that blocks it all, i wonder, as oblivious as that might come across!

as for myself, i'm working on a writing / blog page which i expect to be able to publish really soon!

I just started working on my own personal website/blog. Honestly, the way it all happened was kind of weird. A few days ago I was thinking to myself "Man, I miss the days of having a personal site, making graphics and resources, having affies, etc". Then probably 24 hours later I stumbled on Melonland (I don't even know how!); and fell down this rabbit hole. It was a sign, so I decided to get cracking on the personal site asap :eyes:

Last time I was working on something I made an absolute barebones virtual pet in GDScript as an exercise in making something without following a tutorial to make sure my learning efforts are working. There's a few things I'd like to add and fix in it, though the goal was never really to make it good.

:wizard: Tonight though I did some work on my Neocities site: Added space to the bottom of the index page to make sure the to-do list at the bottom is readable, replaced an art piece with a couple of more relevant ones, threw a bunch of stamps on one of the pages (hoping to get and/or make more and also do something better with them later), and toiled for ages trying to make a pixel-wide rainbow gradient image into a background. I also broke part of the rainbow page but it looks kind of cool so I'm keeping it like that for now. Eventually I want to have a text box in there with picture of a UFO over it so it's like the text is being abducted as you scroll down, but I'm not ready to do that yet.

Currently, I'm working on making my site somewhat presentable-looking. It's alright so far, but it could b a million times better. I cheated by using a premade theme, but I'm hoping to add to it. The site in its current state is here (WARNING FOR OPEN MENTION OF KINKS). I made a mockup of roughly wat I want:

Something that would rlly help is if I got some advice on how to position imgs on my site in the exact places I want. Being a text-based format, it's challenging to align things correctly. Like how would I place a sidebar to the right of the iframe and how would I line the youtube playlist up w it? Same for the gifs. I think knowing that would improve my website a bajillion times over. Sometimes I wish I could just arrange things on a site and copy the resulting code. But then again, I'm a visual artist mainly and I was never good at math.  :trash:

I'm working on a custom keyboard. I recently decided that making a hot-pluggable 3 piece split keyboard is hard, so i redesigned part of it and now i'm making it a single board instead. The part i'm currently struggling with is the trackpoint on the left side. I've yet to find the files i need to make KiCAD (a program for making schematics and printed circuit boards) understand what it is and how it should be wired up to the rest of the board, so i'll probably need to design those files myself. 67 keys, four layers, and a layout based on my current one. I'm looking forward to finishing this thing.

Positioning images is hard sometimes. I did some stuff for an experimental page style here with transparent images holding links instead of a regular imagemap, so those stay in the same positions and cover the same area of the background no matter your screen's size or shape. I hope. Feel free to dig through the code for that if it helps. Basically it's a lot of style="position:absolute; left:n vw; top:n vw; width:n vw; height:n vw;"

My advice for positioning images is to use an image you can see (the page i linked uses invisible images and visible placeholders would have been nice), and to use your browser's developer tools (F12 on Firefox) to move elements around so you can see where they're going in real time, then copy that code to your HTML file in your code editor.

I wonder if there's an HTML editor that does let you just move stuff around on the screen and adjust the code for you. That sounds nice for things like this.

I also have a sidebar on my site you're welcome to reuse here. Mine is on the left but it shouldn't be hard to move it to the right.
