  Central Navigation System 

Hello! You will see the forum now has a new nav sidebar! OMG THIS WAS A LOT OF WORK!! I'm slowly rolling it out across most MelonLand related sites and pages! Please report any bugs or share feature requests as its still very much a WIP.

The idea is to create a consistent unified (if kinda janky) connection between all pages, so you can move from one site of ML to the other side without feeling lost 

I also took the time to do a bunch of bug fixing and cleaning up around the forum, things should load faster and be a bit smoother now!

AutoSave Drafts!

Hello! I have replaced the deeply broken and almost entirely non functional post auto-save feature I made in 2023 with a brand new one that makes use of the drafts system!

From today on, posts longer than 500 chars will be submitted to the auto-save system and saved every 30 seconds as you type them! If you loose connection or the forum errors, when you come back to the post page, you should see a banner letting you know there is an auto-saved post waiting to be recovered. 

If you don't want the auto-save just delete it from your drafts like any normal draft. (it should also auto-delete itself when you make the final post)

Lemmy know how well it works and report bugs please!

  FTP SERVER and SNEEZE Files 

A quick update, there is now a community FTP service you can access to upload files and images to the web! You can find out about connecting to it on the wiki: https://wiki.melonland.net/ftp

You will also notice links to the new Sneeze Files uploader around the place, it can be found here: https://junk.melonland.net/sneeze - it lets you upload files to your ftp folder super quickly!

Atm storage size is small because there is a bit of a forum storage limit, but if its a popular feature that can be expanded later! Have fun uploading files!

3D dAy 

I am pleased to announce 3d models are now natively supported across the forum, guilds and arthub 

You will find a new 3D BBCode available that allows you to embed 3D models. It supports most web-safe 3D formats such as X3D (plus all variants), VRML97, GLB, OBJ annd... just use those ones! If you have created interactive X3D scenes, they should work tooooo! (for X3D, make sure your x3d is actually valid because it turns out none of my was  ) - If you are using Blender, I suggest you export to X3D as its the best supported type.

The Art Hub has been updated to accept small 3D models, and it will handle them like regular image artworks!

Artifact Updates and Avatar Workshop

Heloooo, there are some new features in the Artifact system today:

• There is a new Avatar Workshop for building avatars with artifacts! Including base models by @larvapuppy
• Each artifact now has its own info page
• You can setup artifact "printers" that allow others to adopt duplicates of artifacts
• You can enchant artifacts so they have avatar clothing!
