I figured some people on here would be interested in this.

I stumbled across this page in Gemini (WWW Mirror) about an "Old Computer Challenge". Taking place from the 10th to the 17th July.

Basically, you have to limit yourself to an hour a day on the internet for a week, like many did in the dial-up days.

They also have an amazing cover for the challenege!

Anyone going to take part?

I'm probably going to take part myself, because why not?

Oo that sounds like a fun community!

I don't think I will take part though because my main hobby is computers, and currently my focus in that is web design and establishing myself in the retro web so that'd just very much limit my enjoyment of a day. Last year's challenge sounds fun though! I have the perfect machine for that lying around... dang. Well, another time.

Not gonna lie, I'd love to take on this challenge! If only my job didn't involve screens all the time :ohdear:
I do want to spend less time on a screen (at least, away from work), and this could be a good way to motivate that! But maybe I could save this for the future. :innocent:
I too have an old laptop that needs its time to do things, and I'd really like to revisit it someday. It could be fun to try to attempt this challenge with it, for extra "accuracy" :pc: I wanted to remove stuff from it I no longer use (like programs I used to work with before it got replaced with the laptop I'm writing you from) and use it to install old PC games I sometimes find while thrifting. One of the reasons I still have it around is its CD drive (still built-in!) :ozwomp:
