QUESTcss an html RPG "game"

Click to move your character, scroll to see the game world

no idea where this is going but i was struck by the idea of making a pure html/js "game". at least one where you can explore a world and trigger dialog with other characters. so far you cant interact and the items are fake, but i did make all the assets for the UI etc. gonna mix in gifs like the scholar from other sources but trying to use a lot of old textures i have generated.

ideas welcome!

I was able to hop around a bit on mobile, it was fun. I like the click-to-move a lot, I haven't thought to do something like that before

thanks for kind words, i havent been able to get back on this project but i have BIG PLANS to make it actually interactive. dialog, maybe even 'combat'. this little main character is gonna go on an adventure for sure

 :omg: The concept is so interesting to me! That you can scroll down to explore the world and still have a fixed inventory on-screen really nailed the feeling of the game being both a web page and a game for me. So far, the only online games I know are flash/js games put online or point-and-click adventures through webpages - the former don't bring much attention to the html language, while the latter still feels more like going through a bunch of webpages than a game for me. Might just be a generation thing, but anyways, point is, it seems so creative & the first of its kind to me & if it's gonna be completed, I'll definitely play it. Looking forward to the ideas you have about the game :smile:

If I may make a suggestion, I'd say that the way the character moves doesn't feel very satisfying - he feels kinda slow and is really just convulsing (?) his way around - instead having him walk around like webneko or something might fit better.

this is a good idea! yeah it's all just placeholder til i get back on the project. i do want it to feel a bit odd and awkward, not quite a 'real' game, but yeah the acceleration i put on the character is odd.
