Hello!

Recently, I have been listening to more emo music and was looking for some recommendations.

Here is some music from the genre that I have enjoyed:
Most of Fallout Boy's earlier albums, i.e. Take This to Your Grave, Infinity on High, and From Under the Cork Tree.
Panic at the Disco, A fever you can't sweat out.
Mayday parade

Yeah, I need to expand my repertoire, so I would love recommendations!!  feel free to dm me them :transport:

Thanks for reading this

I'm writing an Emo Primer to put on my site that'll try to go through the full history of Emo from Rites of Spring up through current music, but it is not done yet. I'll post it in parts as replies here once its finished! I find the genre interesting historically because different pockets of it developed from very different places. Emo is such a wide term.

Bands I really like from "mall emo" are all heavier than the ones you've listed, but that's just a function of the genre. All of these bands would've been relatively popular (many still are!) around the same time or a little earlier.

Pierce the Veil

Woe, Is Me

Silverstein

Sleeping with Sirens

Chiodos

Hi, these two bands are kinda new and I hope you like them

(This one is with a bit of screamo)

Now if you want some screamo I would recommend you my favorite emo/screamo band, Foxtails

This album is mostly emo, if you like screamo then you can check their next album after this one but personally i don't like it

@Horsey Chobunso, thank u for the recommendations, I would love to see the emo primer write up!! Seems super intresting. I would love it if u posted the parts of that emo primer here as a reply.

I have listened to 2 pierce the veil songs before, and I have heard of Sleeping with Sirens but never listened to them! The rest of the bands I have not heard of! I shall start listening to these bands and will lay out my thoughts of them here later

yooooo If you are into FOB's early stuff you absolutely owe to yourself to check out The Get Up Kids!  They are a major, if somewhat reluctant, influence on most of the bands that fell under the "emo" umbrella during the early 00's, including Fall Out Boy.  I'd recommend their first two albums but here's a song to get you started to see if it's your sorta thing!

To get a bit more off the emo path, Home Is Where isn't exactly emo music but there are def some emo roots there that I think might scratch a similar itch but in a different way that the usual stuff.

And for a more MySpacey suggestion I'm gonna recommend giving The Callous Daoboys, their album I Don't Want to See You in Heaven that came out last year was a pretty fun listen that this thread reminded me of, I think I should nab it on CD.

Finally if you're getting into FOB, it's kinda fun to look at their roots with acts such as Racetraitor, Damnation A.D., Arma Angelus, Misery Signals, and Weekend Nachos.  Those aren't really emo acts but I think it's fun making connections when it comes to music.  And as a former emo lad, this thread makes me smile.
