Nice to meet yaaaaaa, I'm CinPunk or Cyn for short, 19 (she/her) and I didn't live the old internet, but I always been fascinated with the web and old tecnologies (especially old games consoles and PCs ). The funny thing is I found neocities casually, on tumblr and ever since I discovered a new world, full of creativity and personal expression. I've never been in a forum before but is fun!   (I think is more rewarding than staying on social medial all day, as someone whose addicted, here is like some kind of oasis with slower rhythm where to finally breathe ε -(´・｀)).

I'm an artist, that plans to be a videogame concept artist, but I like animation and comics too; I have a comic, temporarily on hiatus but I plan to go on strong (°▽°)ᕗ after I give a proproper look to my neocities page: cinpunk.neocities.org.

Huge fan of cyberpunk aestetic, drawing robots and androids, videogames/comics/animations  (I cherish indie projects I like and works made by close friends ) and music/singing.

Oh absolutely! I dread social media since because of how short-lived the posts are and how quick you post them it feels like people have less room to think before they post whereas with long-form online interactions it's a lot more like you said, an "oasis with slower rhythm where to finally breathe" 

You said you're into lost media and I've been meaning to get into the community online more! Do you have anything you can recommend (from youtube videos/channels to forums/subreddits/discord servers) or if you'd like to I'd also love to hear more about it from you! Is it something you also participate in actively or more something you really like to absorb knowledge about? :D

Social media became a blackhole that it's hard to escape. I wouldn't use it myself, but unfortunately my friends do...
Maybe I'm getting old, but stuff there changes and flashes so fast, I can't even look at it. My head starts to hurt after 5 minutes of just watching memes. And I don't want to talk about the dramas and all the hate... Though I don't follow it, it's a waste of time for me.

Anyways!

I love old tech too!! I watch LGR for his Oddware stuff and vwestlife from time to time (he mostly makes videos about old sound-related tech) - both on Youtube.

Are you also excited for the ENA game that will come out this year??

I'm more on the curious/ know more side but I limit myself to youtube videos anyway I really like the idea to search all over the web to find the strangest things. I had to refresh the topic and search back some videos I saw some time ago. First things first, there's r/lostmedia on reddit, If you want to start somewhere, that subreddit is the goat; It's full of everything: videogames, shows, cartoons and more. If you go on the creepy side, there's nexpo on youtube, on his channel there are terrifying in real life stories and lost media too, but even searching "lost media" in the general search engine on youtube is enough to start: there are compilations of about 40 to 50 resolved/unresolved cases and even more.(Even loger and icebergs).

I would get slowly and steady invested in something, at the end those are gigantic rabbits holes that connect various things to each others, you start with a subject and finish looking at something totally different. (That's what I really like about lost media  ).

About websites, there's an official wiki and they have a discord too.

If you want somethingto start, Hitogata is pretty good! Hitogata is a japanese late night Psa that some people remember seeing during late 80s and early 00's.
The freaky thing is people are questioning if it's real or not! Here one of the video I saw.
Another interesting video is this one about a web photoshow, with some creepy twists and turns.

There are fake lost media too, if you search cheez.kids on neocities, a strange website would appear. There are videos on youtube to complete the experience too.

Unfortunately, where I live is late night and I got traumatized by an analogue horror, I can't watch creepy things in this period of time but If you find something interesting, I would be super curious to hear about it. Mind that some things out there are really creepy, and sometimes, dangerous!!!!.

My friends have social media too, and as an artist, is fundamental to make yourself seen, at least, a little bit. (But with AI, I don't feel encouraged to post, I'm jelous of my style, It took me years to develope and I would be super pissed if someone takes it and a robot copies it  ). About the thing flashing faster and faster, is only about attention span, I like those meme tho, their're so stupid and nonesensical. What bothers me is they ruined youtube with shorts, it's been years I'm on the platforms looking at gameplays and various stuff and with shorts you waste more time than looking video essays!!!!.

OMG I found something new, LGR channel seems interesting, mainly I looked at various consoles restoration videos, usually with an asmrish aura. About old tech, some time ago I found this channel that makes sample libraries with old electronic instruments and synthesizers.

It's already in my steam wishlist since last december Ahhhh I love surrealistic videogames, so trippy and fascinating. (I used to be scared from ENA, I thought it was weird, now I fully appreciate things like that, also is one of my favourite kind of videogames. ENA is like broken reality with less vaporwave and capitalism, or endacopia, but in 3d). I have some Ena sketches in one of my sketchbook too. .
