These two were Bill and Ben and named after a couple of children's TV puppets. I got them shortly before these photos were taken in August 1997.

Their favourite hobby was bringing slow worms and grass snakes into the house and letting them go. They used to wait at the bus stop for me to get home from work.

Getting them to the US in 2001 was more expensive than what it cost me, but I wouldn't let them go. Both long gone, they died within weeks of each other in 2012, but they were so much fun.

My stepdad had a black rescued street-dog from Poland, she was named Nocka. She acted more like a cat than a dog, and would cower when someone raised their arm too high around her  I found out long after she died "nocka" means "night" in polish.

Then my brother had a dwarf hampster named Pixel! The name was stolen from a popular swedish gaming youtuber's pet rat.

My childhood cat was a calico named mama-san, because my mom had watched karate kid before adopting her and she had kittens beforehand.

We adopted a cat in 2016 that I named little sister, after the dog in Mulan with a similar name.

A few months later we adopted a cat that I named Yoki, after the name yoko, as I was a fan of the Beatles and the rosemary wells book.

We got a third cat named baby, we didn't have control over her name but we also call her little lady.

My aunt has a big fat cat named Humphrey, he's a silly grouch of a longhaired cat.

I named my cat Billup after the Solange track cranes in the sky. She sings "I ran my credit card bill up" and I just knew in that moment my baby boy had the perfect name... to this day i've only found one other pet named Billup, but he's a snake(literally, hah). My Billup is a flame point with an upside down cross between his eyes.

My partner's cat Chester is also pretty great! we call him chester the jester coz he's he's always clowning around  :wizard:

i only have one dog named nita, a rottweiler-alaskan malamute mix, im not sure the origins of her name but im pretty sure it was because my pa always called her nieta and somewhere along the way we dropped the e. however, one of my close friends has this white and orange speckled cat named burger king (bk for short) despite being a girl.

I've had six pets, two currently still alive and one still living with us. The one who no longer lives here is a turtle named Frankie and sadly, we didn't have enough space for her anymore in 2023. She's still healthy and happy with a family who has the adequate amount of space and. The other one still living with us is my dog Birdie who's turning seven this year! She's a chihuahua terrier mix with thin caramel colored fur and cat ears. She is in my opinion, the best alive but all pet owners say that about their dog. Her full name, Birdie big-larry megatron [last name] is my seven year old self's fault. My parents let me decide her name since I was the one who begged to see her in the familiar room (what the animal shelter where you went to meet a animal). Which my parents would come to regret.

I have four deceased pets. Zelda a terrier with golden fur, Brendal a long haired chihuahua with black and white hair, Zoey a blue betta fish, and Kai an also blue betta fish. Zelda is who i associate with being my first pet although we had Brendal at the same time. This is not because I disliked Brendal, but she was very nervous around children and new people. She would barely ever let me pet her but I remembered every time she did. Anyways back to Zelda, unlike Brendal she got used to me rather quickly. My memory of her is that she was always on someone's lap or playing. I always looked forward to giving her baths because afterwards she was like a puppy, running around, asking people to play with her, just overall more energetic than I usually saw her. Now that I think of it, that may or may not have been a good thing. My fist betta fish was named Kai. I loved him with all my heart for his whole life, which was three days. He was my first ever pet that was just mine so as you can imagine, I was devastated. Which any six year old would be. A year or so later we got Zoey. I also loved Zoey dearly, and luckily she lived a longish life for a betta fish and died a year after we got her. There's no distinct memories I have of her sadly.

I apologize for going on about my pets in a nonsensical manner. Honestly I just wanted an excuse to talk about them and saw this topic. Since this is pet nicknames , I'll share a list of  the one's we've used for them over the years.
- Birdie : bird turd, birdy loo, bird bird, and birdzilla.
- Frankie : Frankenstein's bride, and frankfurt.
- Zelda : Link (not very  creative I know), and zerald,
- Brendal : Bren.
- Zoey : Zo.
- Zach : none sadly.
