HELP: live music preview on neocities?

I've been toying with the idea of having a live music preview on my neocities page, rather than a set playlist. I'd like to be able to preview what I'm listening to on Spotify in real time on my site, but quite frankly, I don't know how! I've been told to utilize last.fm api, but I really don't even know where to start in terms of coding the thing.
If anyone has any tutorials, advice, or really anything at all, I'd love to hear!

i used code from here, and customized it a bit to match my site's theme a bit more! if anyone else needs help with setting it up, i'm happy to help as well

OMG i wanted to do something like this when i first made the mockup of my site and gave up after i just couldn't figure out how i would go about it logically, and settled for just manually updating the song per update.
little did i know using lastfm was a solution hiding right in plain sight
