I need help fixing a CD player!

Hi everyone! Recently I thrifted a nice silver CD player for like five dollars. I bought some batteries for it and turned it on, but only the radio half of it worked  . No matter what I do, the CD I put inside of it won´t spin or play. Anyone got any ideas or experience with this kind of stuff?
... I´ll be back with pictures later on. I´m not home right now. I just really don´t wanna have wasted five bucks LOL

Now it depends on how the cd player works
I dont know if cd players are usually belt driven, but if so, it'll need replacement belts. Another possibility is that an internal gear our part has cracked or popped out of place. The worst possibility is that the CD player has fried electronics and it'll need to be replaced, but since the radio component works, i wouldnt say thats definitely whats happening

So how would I figure that out? Should I send over a couple pics?
I'm at no lack of a CD player, I have like 3 others, but none of this type. (one DVD player and 2 portable / walkmans) And I'm not really well versed in this kind of stuff hahaha
