I would like to hear about typos! They are a major fact of life for anyone typing their thoughts down, and although many tools exist to help spot and detect writing issues I find I still make many typos!  :drat:

What are your thoughts on typos?? Do you fear them? Do you leave them in place? Do certain keyboards or writing programs cause you to have more or less typos?

One of the more known ones that I kept in place was my "Aboot" page, that was very much a typo, but I've kept it in for many years because people seem to enjoy it

Have you made any funny or embarrassing typos?  :innocent:

I think when it comes to typos the context is kind of important. So if I’m just texting a friend on discord or whatever and we’re both typing really fast, unless the typo actively misleads my intention with the text I’ll change it. Although there have been times where a typo just annoys me for whatever reason during texts and I will edit it just cause.

Normally when I write a reply on here or write something like a journal/blog post I’ll try to fix typos where I can because I want my thoughts and ideas to be communicated clearly, and maybe also because I get a little embarrassed about it too lol. Smaller ones may go unnoticed and I might fix them later or if the post has been up long enough I’ll just leave it.

Obviously when you’re writing a job application or anything that’s work/business related you’ll want to be as clear and grammatically correct as possible as that’s just basic professionalism. But away from the professionalism stuff. Sometimes when I want to sound funnier I’ll leave my typos in or purposefully misspell certain words to make them sound funnier or because they look funnh.<— Like that one I just created lol

But sometimes it can be very annoying and inconvenient for me because my iPad SAVES MY TYPOS. So when I’m typing the word “something” normally it’ll occasionally “””correct””” it to “soemthing”  :drat:

Some of my other typos include whatevef, hvae, Brian (for whne I try to spell brain) whne as just seen lol

My friend and I have come up with an idea of who this “Brian” guy might be but so far we’ve both come to the conclusion that he’s a straight white guy from Canada who listens to the band muse and wears those black and red checkered flannel shirts

I think my most memorable typo was writing "cojon" instead of "cajon" while roleplaying on Neopets and spending the whole day fearing I would get my account frozen over it :drat:

My second most memorable typo was "i didn't get [person]'s isntagram" which was really fitting for the situation. I still deliberately type "Isntagram" sometimes  :ok:

I still catch a lot of typos on my website  :ohdear: I feel embarrassed by them, just the normal amount I think. Maybe sometimes I type too fast.

My rule of thumb regarding typos is: if it's funny, leave it on  :ok:

Typoes are funny little things, aren't they? They lead people into funny methods of expression too, from my observations. Like. They're so small, easy to miss, yet the moment someone spots it they hone in like a hawk. It's pretty strange and intriguing to think about, how such a small moment can paint a big portion of our online socialising.

Being the somewhat wordy and slightly perfectionist guy I can be, on text, I have a history of agonising over whether everything I write is clear enough to read, so of course I kinda grew to dislike when I make typoes, even when the pointing of them is in jest and not meant out of malice. There's this sting of "what is wrong with you?" from it, like I should have known better yet I still let it slip anyways. This all kinda painted my overall dislike of touchscreens and pads for longform writing over time. They make typoes easier to make and harder to fix, so I prefer tactile keyboards over them as I have more control over what I'm inputting in the first place. If a mistake happens, I'm at least content in knowing I'm the one solely making the mistake, and not being held back by external program-related factors.

Thankfully, I've grown to not take myself too seriously and feel less hostile to my own typoes, and lately I've learned to just let them go when they're not changing any big factors in what I'm writing. As long as the core message gets through, who cares? Let folks point and laugh and make fun of me if they want, it's all in good jest, and if not that's more on the reader than on me. Maybe I left the typo there because I find it funny, myself.

I don't like having them on my website, but on direct messaging I love them and often find myself writing them on purpose. They lead to so many funny interactions, and besides... it does make me ✦*✦ quirky ✦*✦.

On forums like these and social media, I just kind of don't care... typos are inevitable if you type a lot, c'est la vie!

Usually when I post online, whether casually or professionally, I tend to fix typos. However, if I'm chatting with friends or think the typo I made is funny, I won't be as strict. I think it's pretty fun when someone makes a typo in a group chat and everyone repeats said typo before OP can edit/correct themselves. I've played an indie VN where typos were intentionally put into the dialogue, which may sound odd to some but it made it really fun and added to its charm ^_^

I mainly write fanfic and blog posts for my site, and I usually try to fix typos when I see them, but some are bound to happen. My writing program often catches most of them, but sometimes if the word is correct but is the wrong word, I will definitely miss it even when I do read through it. I will only see it when the thing is already posted  :drat:

My most infamous type is "beucase" and it happens almost all the time when I write on PC, on discord specifically when chatting with people in dms and servers. No matter now many times I try to remember not to make it, I just do. Another typo I make a lot is liek, though I do catch it most of the times, it is still pretty funny when I see it.

I type a lot more than i write and i usually fix all my typeos (even when i'm trying to leave them in, like her). I wonder if i'd get better at wirting accurately if i took away my backspace keys temporarily so i coudln't correct them so easily. Typing as much as i do , i'm used to being able ot fix any mistakes i make so i'm less careful than ai think i would be if i wrote more in a less erasable midium like ink.

I recently played a  n onlyine video game for the first time in a long while and noticed that i made a lot more mistakes thatn ai normally would because i just didn't have time to proofread .

Occasionally i do start typing real fast and real accuartely  , but not very often. Maybe i will do that thing with the backspace keys. Coudl be interesting.

I thought for a wilhe i made more types on my phone than may computer because the layout is less comfortable and harder to sue (much less work has gone into good phone kyeboards than good computer keyboards), but as i read this with all my mistackes (or most of them) preserfved i'm not so sure. A lot of it is just acidentally switching toowo letters, so maybe the p reason for that is i type a lot faster on a keyboard than a phone. I can touch type and don't bother taking as much time or effort to find the write right keys when i think i can just fix everything so easily.

THIS!! I love intentionally misspelling words and leaving crazy typos in Discord GCs because I think they're funny :) or sometimes when I misspell something and see it after I posted I'll just go "ah well it's good" and leave it.
It helps that my friends and I are doofuses that don't realize when a word is wrong at the moment, only later when reading back through it.

In my normal life tho, I am soooo compulsive about typos; if I see one I HAVE to edit it right away or it'll gnaw at me... quite a juxtaposition, if I do say so myself :ohdear:

I find it incredibly difficult to type the word "three" without capitalising the "T".

I founded a nonprofit like 23 years ago called Three Rings, and as a result I've had to type the word "Three" many times since then, and now I'm stuck: if I'm using a regular keyboard then as soon as my brain thinks "three" then my little finger goes for the shift key!

(I'm not even safe on mobile: auto-"correct" tries to fix it to "Three" if I miss the capital letter!)
