Okay! Hello! :seal:
It's good to meet everyone! I'm cindy, known as lovelydumpling in other parts of the web but people just call me cindy :)

I'm a small ball of anxiety who's been very interested in Web 1.0 pages lately!  :pc:
I'm 29, trans, and my pronouns are she/her.

I grew up as a young kid on the internet before social media really took over. That age where once it came around, your parents warn you not to make a myspace account because there could be predators or whatever.   So most of my earliest memories on the internet are from that sort of wild west, where it wasn't all consolidated into a handful of companies and you never knew what you could find out there. I often look back at those times fondly, especially as the platforms the internet is built upon these days continue to become more antagonistic towards their users.

I recently played the stellar Hypnospace Outlaw  :loved: — which, if you haven't and you like places like this, you should definitely check it out— and it ignited my love for the old internet something fierce. :dive:  I looked into Neocities and Nekoweb, and started practicing some HTML and made my own homepage on the web. It's a bit bare, mainly because I had more ideas about aesthetic and vibe than I did content, but I hope to expand upon it and make it my own spot of personal expression as time goes on.  :trash:

While I was working on it, someone pointed my way here and this looked like a really fun community to get involved with~! So now I'm here :) Far more than making my own, I love exploring other people's web pages. That's basically what Hypnospace was about, and it translated to exploring web 1.0 sites rather well!

As for interests outside of exploring old websites...
  • I like small and cute creatures, especially cats and kitties :4u:
  • I like low poly PS1 aesthetics because it was my first games console
  • I like action RPGs that aren't too hard for me to play, especially stuff that rewards exploration  :dive:
  • Some of my favorite games are Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, NieR, Hypnospace Outlaw, and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen.
  • I like some anime, though admittedly I don't keep up with the scene.
  • Some of my favorite anime are CLANNAD, Code Geass, Death Note, Food Wars (before S5), and Dr. Stone.
  • I like a lot of sitcoms from the 2000s!
  • My absolute favorite sitcom is Scrubs, but I also like That 70s Show, Malcolm in the Middle, and Community.
  • I also like Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto, and MEIKO!

Anyway, that's me. Hello melonland :)  :seal:

hypnospace outlaw is one of my all-time favorite video games! god, that was gorgeous. it does bring back the spark, doesn't it? oh, and the ps1 and ps2 are still my favorite consoles as well, haha.
i love the dangos on your homepage; i've never read or watched clannad but i have another personal connection with the dangos portrayed there, haha. did you make the pixel art of them yourself?
good luck with everything, and hope to see more pages soon!

It's super nice to meet you!! I'm in a similar place when it comes to anime. I think the medium is cool, but it's not really one of my hobbies to see what's recently come out, how that's doing, etc. Death Note is also one of my favorites! I've been meaning to watch Code Geass, but I'm currently working on JoJo part 3 and Lucky Star with my partner. =w=

Can't wait to see you around the forum!!  :4u:

The dango in my favicon and button I did myself :) The cursor I can't claim credit for, that's from here.

oh, and the ps1 and ps2 are still my favorite consoles as well, haha.

gen 6 gaming (PS2 era) is when the industry peaked imo. Before online connectivity opened the floodgates to really anti-consumer monetization and forever-games.

I've been meaning to watch Code Geass, but I'm currently working on JoJo part 3 and Lucky Star with my partner. =w=

Lucky Star is some goofy fun, and I like the music a lot. A friend/roommate shared it with me while I was living with them~ So I strongly associate it with that time around 2015.
I need to get back around to Jojo. I saw parts 1 and 2 but kinda fell off somewhere early into 3.

In my opinion, parts 1 and 2 are almost entirely setup for part 3's shenanigans. But it's also really long, so it's easy to lose motivation to keep watching it. I mostly keep up because it's a thing my boyfriend and I watch together.

Same with Lucky Star, tbh. I found the entire dub in a YouTube video, so we've been slowly making our way through that whenever we need something easy to have in the background.

Hello and welcome to the melonland forum !

First of all, I'm in absolute awe with your status.cafe integration ! It looks like a video game dialogue, so so cool ! I was listening to synthwave when opening your page and the cute shark bobbing from left to right was in rythm ! Love the style and palette you"re using for the website !

You say it's bare but not all websites needs to be filled to the brim with thingamabobs or flashy stuff. Do it as you want ! some people are very expansive some others are more discreet, have it like you want it !
