been a while since ive gone here ^_^ i finally actually know basic html/css because back in the summer i was way too impatient to wait for school and my compsci class to start up HFGDKLVJN the thing is we learned how to make grids but i forgot and cant access the practice files because weve been doing everything on school assigned macs that i dont have </3
ive been googling around but i cant find anything that works ....... what im working with is a div on top of an image if that helps
ive used various websites' solutions, the one used in the screenshot is from here

any and all help is appreciated ^_^ :ozwomp:

hmm, this should be working! maybe you have some other code that's interfering or a missing bracket or something elsewhere in your html/css - could you post a link to it not working so i can check? what looks wrong about it when you do it?

here's the codepen where i copied your work (and added colored borders)

ahhh, well i'm glad it's all set then! neocities is pretty slow to update the cache a lot of the time; doing a "hard refresh" (control + shift + r) is often necessary when making changes to a page to make sure it loads your changes properly!

if you want other column methods, here's a couple more! different methods have different + different people have different preferences - i like flexboxes and dislike grids, i just find flexboxes easier to understand for some reason haha.
