hallo :3 i am jules i am 22 i am online.   i have been playing with websites for almost a year, i got into site building because i've been off social media for several years but i still want to be able to connect with my friends online! there's gotta be a cooler way and i'm jetset on finding one.

i'm interested in creating spaces to bring people together online and in meatspace. i love design and creating, and have experience with design drawing, carpentry and landscaping. i hope to study communities and learn how to empower people to connect and have their voices heard to help us come together and shape a world for people, rather than a monument to profit. i'd love to make trails and parks, and i think it's insane that in most places there's not a safe and legal way to get around on foot. these interests intersect with the internet in ways i dont fully understand yet but i'm always pondering.

since i started working on sites, i've had a vision of making something that feels like wandering through the woods. i'm approaching a concept of "greenspace". it feels like i've been wandering around the outside of an online park and finally found everyone hanging out! ozwomp is so cool i love that there's worlds to get to online!! i'm learning pico-8, a lua-based fantasy console which i'd like to use to make embedded game worlds on my sites. particularly it has virtual gpio pins which allow games to communicate with the website,,

i'm picturing following a link that opens a pico-8 game in the woods, you walk around and reach a well which you can jump in and takes you to another site. i'm trying to take skeumorphism to cosmic levels. i'm familiar with very very basic code and am essentially learning everything right as i need it, and having so much fun! here is garden tender, a back of the napkin sketch that represents the bleeding edge of my programming skills

i use https://mmm.page to make my sites, it's very approachable and playful, although i dont know enough about html to really be able to review it's capability for more complex features, tho i'm approaching these now! the newest version of my site is https://greenspace.earth/garden. version "1.0" is at main of that domain, and was made mostly before finding any web revival community, so now i'm doing a makeover with everything i've learned!

glad to be here and greetings from greenspace!1!!!1!!!1n :unite:

Hallo Jules, welcome to the Melonland Forum !

You sound like a very friendly person, it's nice to see such positivity ! This forum doesn't lack it, there's been a lot of debating and sicussing it(s a good place to look for new friends or learning something new !

I've seen Pico-8 before and it honestly sounds fantastic, I will probably investigate later in the year or next year when I'll be done with all I have planned already

Thanks for sharing your tools, it's very interesting. Someone will surely be insterested as well. As for your vision of the web, I sahre a bit of it as well. For me the core web with titan websites such as Meta, Xitter, etc is the huge city walled with skyscrappers and ads everywhere. Neocities, Nekoweb and stuff like this is the very outskirts of the city, a bit like rural towns with less ads, less "consumer experience" behavior. It's a fresh breath like a walk in a park !
