Basically, for anyone who used to be on forums before they became unpopular (and then revived somewhat), which ones did any of y'all used to hang out on?

In general Proboards used to be the staple before it became uhh... obsolote? Or at least gone to shit in some way, mostly regarding to the login crap and how everything now requires being linked to a Proboards account. I miss the days of having different users and passwords for each forum...

I digress, I used to be a part of the Megaman Legends side of things for a long-ass time, I once frequeted Megaman Legends Station and Megaman Legends Universe forums, back before and during the Legends 3 hype. Then they kind of fell into silence when it got cancelled...

I was able to remember my old username and password for MMLU and scour through the forums and holy shit so many memories from that time and age. I had joined when I was freshly a teenager and stopped posting back in 2011 once the game's cancellation was announced (good lord how much I rode the cope train HARD and hoping Mighty No. 9 would fill the hole it left, man... I was on something at the time).

The old Horseland forums when i was younger, and the Scratch forums, and the WolfQuest forums as a preteen.

These were decent places to grow up online. I'm kind of sad that most of WQ's forum base moved to an official discord, it's just too high speed and busy for me.

I only ever lurked the Horseland forums because my parents were, like, afraid of me looking at forums? So I perceived them as "more adult" and had this fascination with the Horseland boards while being deathly afraid I'd get into trouble.

I couldn’t name most of the forums I used as a kid; I was on so many. There were Harry Potter roleplay forums, various anime-focused forums (especially those focused on retro anime), I think Emuparadise had a forum, a Kingdom Hearts-focused forum that wasn’t KH Insider (though I did also frequent that), Bioware used to have forums for their games (it’s a shame almost none of that has been archived; damn! I still have bookmarks to my favourite threads—), various scanlation groups had dedicated forums (fun fact: it’s where I met one of my exes). Of course I was a heavy Neopets forum user. And I was definitely on AarinFantasy for a lot of BL manga, games, and anime. I still check there every so often to see if a rare soundtrack has been uploaded.

There were other forums for other interests that I frequented. I remember my first exposure to politics and mature political discourse was via a forum that’s long since been closed. Those were good times.

Unfortunately, my parents were kinda strict with me not talking to ppl I didn't know, and because I didn't have any friends irl.. yeah I ended up snapping around 2020 and made a discord.

I really enjoyed talking on Minecraft servers and Sonic Network Land, though!

i remember i was on FurryPaws' forums for a while...returned a couple years ago and it's so dead :c it's like genuinely depressing to see the sites that i loved slowly deteriorate but also it preserves the nostalgia?

I used to hang out on multiple forums back then, mostly involving the Sonic fandom. (also one of those is where I met some of my best friends, so yeah.)
Actually, there's like, one that's still around that I still occasionally check, though it's kind of dead as well with activity happening once a week, sort of. I'm not really part of the aforementioned fandom community anymore, however I guess I will never escape the hedgehogs at this rate.

As a kid, I was obsessed with WebkinzInsider. I spent so much time on there
I also spent some time on pet forums, a little bit on a guinea pig one, and then a lot of time on hamsterhideout in my teen years. I mostly just lurked on those though, didn't post much.

I'm curious which fandoms you're talking about! Especially the one that's still active somewhat.

I too used to spend most of my net time browsing Sonic forums. This would have been around 2000 - 2003 when I was like 12 - 14. I was really active on the Sonic Fan Games HQ forum, which is still freakin around and kickin! Can't believe how active the Sonic fan game scene still is.

I also used to bum around a place called the Moogle Cavern, which is surprisingly also a Sonic forum and not Final Fantasy lol. Confused a lot of newcomers. We actually all still hang out together on Discord, mostly the same peeps still talking about Sonic 20 years later haha.

Other than that, Gaia Online was another freqqented forum of mine back in the day.

when i was younger, i spent a lot of time on warrior cats rpg (now feralfront). it was a huuuge site back in the day and allowed for all sorts of rp, games, and conversation, not just warrior cats rp! i remember they eventually allowed for people to use the points they gained from making posts to buy other species of animal that could be used in warrior clan rp, so it wasn't just cats :D
during that time, i would sometimes use proboards to make my own rp sites (all animal-related). i would spend hours making custom site themes for them! but i inevitably lost interest after a month or so and never visited them again hehe
these days, i feel like i'm much more worried about how others perceive me, so it's more difficult for me to roleplay earnestly... i do miss that part of my life a lot and wish to be less self-concerned, but i don't think i'm worse for wear either :) i still get a lot of fulfillment through other ways of expressing myself

Ah, for the first forum, I don't even remember what forum host it was on anymore. (And besides, its focus drifted off STH at one point) However, the somewhat active one is called Sonic Blast.
