Hey guys!

The story began when I saw someone with the wikiplayer widget on reddit and I thought that was just SO COOL and i want to get that on my neocities site too. To my disappointment, the widget somehow refused to work. But at that point I was already hard set on the idea of having a music widget to my website, and in the spirit of learning coding, I decided to build my own from scratch.

https://elsieeeyjd.github.io/music-player-bar/the-playlist-stuff/playlist-sample.png

here it is! it's got all the basic things a music player should have and a drop down menu to choose songs from!

If you want to add this to your site too, or if you wanna contribute to it (cuz the code is still kinda scuffed), here's the github repo for it. if you use it, i'd appreciate it if you throw me a lil credit :)

Btw, the github repo also includes five alternative preset looks for your player! enjoy  :4u:

I do have to note that, while the design and logic of the project is mine, and i coded most parts myself, I used a bit of AI for debugging purposes (im still a coding newbie). If you're a "no AI nomatter what" person, I apologize. I am aware of the impact, both bad and good, of AI, and I have my own thoughts on it. feel free to discuss with me about it but let's not turn this topic into an AI debate. Thanks!

Hey guys! I have had some reddit folks lmk that they don't know how to download the files for the music player. SO to make downloading the files easier, I've created a release on the repo so you can download everything at once (yeah i just learned i'm new to actually doing things on github lmao)
So if you think downloading individual raw files is way too annoying, i've linked the download link to readme.md!

alternatively, i can just link the release here: https://github.com/elsieeeyjd/music-player-bar/releases/tag/v1.0.0

this is really cool! I was just looking for something similar to this, and was just about to start coding one myself :grin:

one quick question about the script: I see that there's a section to set the rootPath relative to the current path, and it currently requires you to specify every site page the player could refer to the root from. would it not be possible to set rootPath like this instead?
Code
const rootPath = "https://sitename.neocities.org/";
that way, anyone adding the player to their own site would just need to add their url into the script, and wouldn't need to change anything if they add or rename a page.

I haven't downloaded the code yet to test it myself (and haven't done too much work with javascript specifically), so let me know if I'm off the mark :happy:
