i think i'm also on my way to living the life i want. living with friends, having a strong community, being around a lot of art, and making art as my job. i've dreamed of it for so long and now it's real  :innocent:

though despite having the job i want, i also share the not having to work to live sentiment, both because i feel like no one should have to work to survive and meet basic needs but also because of mental health issues on my end that i didn't realize was affecting me so much until i moved out and had so much more responsibilities, so i hope to live a life mostly free of that stuff someday. i would also want to live with my partner and live somewhere with better public transit. and also, in a dream scenario, be able to make enough money to support the both of us. but i'm really liking how things have turned out so far!

"Living the life" would be me chilling in some sunset destination, port right there. I have nowhere to be and no obligations to fulfill, just enjoying the nice 28 degree weather at some waterside cafe, waiting for the evening to fall. I can hear faint tropical house coming from the beach club in the distance; a fancy dinner and some good company is awaiting me. I can be anywhere I want, whenever I want, and tonight it's right here. :dot:

...That's the first image that phrase conjures in my head. "Living the ideal life" is an entirely different question wherein I need to weigh all my real-life responsibilities and circumstances. There's a few things that are essential for me in this ideal: I live in a warm place, I can do my work without feeling any financial pressure to survive, and I am able to move freely from one place to another. In these ideal scenarios I try to not think too hard about family, friends, and lovers, because I know the nomad life I desire sometimes means we will see each other very little.

From what I can gather from other replies, a lot of people's ideal lives are centered around living in a nice place, being part of a community, and being surrounded by arts in some way. I really like that, as if I just got a glimpse of the things most important to the human experience.

Well the dream would be to live on my own little island in a lake and get paid for just doing my hobbies but that's not realistic. I think I'm on the right track though, since the second best thing is having some financial security and I do have a job. But I don't want to live alone in the future, that needs to change :skull:

Interesting to read about your opinions and how different people think about this

To me, having my close ones close and healthy while living somewhere very close to the ocean with no obligations to work comes close but first we need to figure out how to save all the animals and other lifeforms on this planet by reducing the harm we have done to the ecosystem we live in. We also need to manage to bring humans closer to each other again and love & respect all the plants and animals again.

I would consider living in a humble and forgiving society without borders to be the best way of living the life.

Fuck money, fuck power... just sharing the love while everybody is happy & fucking around :transport:
