I was never very skilled at writing or poetry so I never gained any proficiency or wrote very often but I always enjoyed making these things regardless.

Anyway here is a poem I wrote titled "the Mirror" (sorry if its a little heavy I gain most of my inspiration to write from distressing subjects within my own life)

Quote
When I stare at the mirror my eyes are met With the visage of an unfamiliar Man.

He fills my head with falsehoods and lies.

If I insisted otherwise He would scream.

so loud that it shattered the very glass He stood behind.

Glass shards Scored My Body like 1000 tiny knives stabbing me

My Wounds bled ink darker than night itself

until I was clad in a shadow similar to that of the Man's silhouette'

It was suffocating me slowly and painfully

I knew full well what would happen before i would come to resemble the Man.

I accepted that I would die being me rather than Living a lie in His image.

i don't think it's too heavy at all!! art is for us to communicate how we think and feel and to hopefully connect with others that feel the same :> you may have intentionally left out context but i can read this at least a couple different ways; there's a sense of the transgender suppression that a lot of (especially transfems) experience in the context of an unfamiliar Man, but even the notion of "Living a lie in His image" makes me think of. well. people with shitty dads who dont want to be like them... i think this is a wonderful poem with a lot of facets to it that people can sympathise with for different reasons and i think that makes it all the better  :4u:
