im surprised to see so many kidpix! i'd never heard of that program as a child. actually, i don't think i was aware of any drawing program outside of photoshop.

my first art program has to be photofiltre studio. it's not a drawing program! at least i dont think so? i was using it for photomanipulation, that's how i expressed myself. with warrior cats RP banners and profile pictures. with the whimsical stamps, the blurred transitions from pictures of cats to pictures of forests and vague textures... was this a thing in the american mid/2000s warrior cat rp forum scene at all? actually this might be outside of this thread's jurisdiction. maybe i'll make a thread about that later. or find the appropriate thread for it!

Good old boring MS Paint.

And a new discovery was made! A bug in Paint triggers a superzoom, particularly useful for pixeling. Usually, there is only 8x scaling available. But if you pixel-perfect click below "8x" (green arrow on the image in the attachments), then another zoom step is made. Wow! A program, that has few functions by itself, even has more functions behind bugs.

Either Kid Pix Studio Deluxe or MS Paint. I still have one of my MS Paint drawings from back then around somewhere.

The first program I used to draw (if you don't count the couple of cbeebies flash games that you could draw pictures in) was GIMP. In elementary school I was signed up for an extracurricular to learn how to use it  :ok:

Then when I got a wacom tablet I got a CLIP STUDIO PAINT license, so I started using that.

As a child I doodled a lot in Art Academy (y'know, that DS game that's designed to teach you realism?) but as for "Proper Art" (Aka not kid scribbles) it was Autodesk Sketchbook, I think. Not very many features and I haven't used it in who knows how long but it was my first introduction into digital art. Then I moved to Krita (both of those I used on my phone) which I still ocasionally use to this day. Now, though I use Krita on my laptop with a drawing tablet. It's just the easiest for me.

My first art program was Tux Paint! I used it exclusively at school after completing assignments for our computer science class. I did not make any crazy art in there as I mostly messed around to kill time. I only started making less random drawings by moving straight into Photoshop. I also recall using Adobe Sketch for a good while until the software was discontinued from support.

i think my first dedicated art program except for ye olde ms paint must have been flipnote studio on my dsi, except i didn't know how to animate lol. i never used the hatena thing much but i do distinctly remember using it once and finding a really cool sonic the hedgehog animation.

Hmm.......does Pictochat count? I remember I had a friend who lived in the apartment beneath ours as a kid, and she had a DSi so she was able to write with the rainbow pen...I, a lowly proletariat was stuck with the DSLite (which I still adore, don't get me wrong!), and I was so jealous!

For me, it was the image editor on my old tablet's camera roll app lol (i was like, 8) i used to mess around with the image editor a LOT even for non-art stuff, for example: i was REALLY into the baby hazel flash games as a kid and i would take a bunch of screenshots of the mobile versions of the games and write down "flaws" i saw in them like i was CinemaSins (a lot of which admittedly just being me being stupid and not understanding the fact that the games used british english and being confused as to why the characters say "aeroplane" and not "airplane" lol)

I eventually graduated to some no-name art app that i'm pretty sure is taken off the app store now bc i remember looking for it once and i couldn't find it (it had some generic name like "sketchbook pro" or something)

The first time I drew anything digitally was on Flipnote Studio for the DSi! Unfortunately I don't have much from then, though I do have a stop-motion thing I made when I was little using it.

Though if we're specifically talking about PC programs, I started with FireAlpaca. My first drawing on there (that wasn't doodles while getting a hang of using a drawing tablet for the first time) is of a Therian Forme Tornadus. I will try to remember to edit the post to add the drawing later.

Currently I mainly use Krita though I also make Flipnotes sometimes still using my 3Ds (Flipnote Studio 3D is really fun). I have drawn stuff in Colors 3D, Pixilart (a website), Magma.io, Chicken Smoothie's Oekaki board at least once, a few game memo doodles on my 3Ds, Art Academy: Lessons For Everyone (a 3Ds game), a few things using the DSi camera app's photo editor, gen 4 Pokemon's union room drawing thing, some Pictochat doodles, and one doodle using the Wii's photo editor.

There might be stuff I'm missing but I'm about to go sleep so maybe I'll remember when I wake up.

Edit: typos

It wouldve been either flipnote studio on my DSi (the poor thing in question gone but not forgotten) or ms paint on my grandma's windows xp computer...before then i was restricted to the realm of traditional drawing. but the idea of being able to DRAW on a COMPUTER blew my mind when i first heard of it. when i got my first laptop (tiny little netbook) i downloaded a cracked copy of paint tool SAI on it so that was my first deliberate choice of art program
