Something about my site isnt there and I want help

so im not really sure where to go with my site. Im not really sure what it is, but something about it doesnt satisfy me the same way other people's sites do. The issue is that Idrk what to do cuz with other sites I like, the reason I like them is cuz they are unique and have character. But im not really sure how to give that to my site.

Like its annoying cuz when i think about it, my site does have a LOT OF THE STUFF I LIKE. Like it has the ridiculous amounts of webgraphics and the constant gifs and the music player and whatnot, but idrk, something about it just doesnt feel right. Something is unsatisfying.

Ive thought maybe its that theres kinda a lack of a unofrm theme to the site, cuz my art gallery is completely different I for some reason like that better, but with my recent redesign of my site, I HAVE tried to give it a uniform theme. Like idk

And also its like, themes I like on other sites, i DONT want on my site. Like for example a windows xp/98 type theme. like I LOVE sites with themes like that but i dont like the idea of that on my site.

One thought i had was the fact that i did use a layout generator initially (sadgirl's one). However, I kinda thought that it wouldn't matter since I have edited it so much, but im not sure

ive removed things like my main navbar (since I already have a better one on the side) which I think makes it look way better but idk what to do beyond that
Sorry if this has been kind of rambly but Im genuinely asking; ive looked through sites for inspo but it really hasn't helped, i think I just need some feedback.

Do you have some examples of sites that you really connect with? That might be helpful to be able to compare them to yours and give some outside perspectives.

In general comparing your site to other sites is not the most useful tool for finding your own sense of self, but it can still be a good creative exercise for design ideas.

Also I'd encourage you to sit down and think about what "satisfied" means, or what "there" feels like to you; that's something only you can answer, so you'll have to answer it for yourself anyway!

My only initial comment would be that your site looks fine, but it's basically all dead-end links to wip pages, and while it has a lot of stuff, I don't really see anything unique to you. What is your life? What actually matters in your day to day? Who are you? How do you see the world you live in? Those are the basic things that really matter to make any personal site work!

Ok so, just purely comparing the design cues of those sites and your site - my suggestion is, just get rid of your border/outlines and backgrounds - your visual structure is breaking up your layout, and all the sites you linked have visually-combined layouts - its not about consistency, its about how things on the page are split up, if you remove your borders and background, it gives the illusion of things being more merged ^^ (also this is a result of using the layout generator you mentioned, it has a bias towards divided layouts)

A quick test! It prob needs more tweaks to make it all feel ok, but it gives you an idea.

idk, i suppose its complicated cuz of how conflicting it is

like, i want my site to be cozy and calm and comforting place to be while simultaneously being chaotic and gify and rainbow. And I guess also having more fandom interests. Im just really not sure how to make it that way. Ive kinda tried themeing it around my fursona, but idk, his aesthetic as you can see is not either of the things I mentioned.

Idrk, your site and the forum have all actually managed to have that "cozy yet chaotic and overstimulating" vibe to them (at least to me, like the melonverse is a VERY cozy place on the internet in my opinion) but Im really not sure what it is about this site and your personal site that make me feel that way.

OK you may actually be onto something here, but I think your right, the layout is the issue. Im gonna play around with this idea a bit, thank you  

I think possibly another thing is like, idk I want more stuff to DO on the site. Like I want it to be more like a PLACE if you know what I mean. Like idk if that means doing a whole freaking 3d environment like you've got on your site or just adding/removing some things but idk.

The secret is that having stuff to do on a site is an illusion Most sites have very little to do, what matters is how you deliver it, you don't wanna gave away too much too fast; its like a song, you cant have all the notes at once, its the space between notes that turns it into music.
