Stone and Shadow

Upon the hill of ancient green,
A silent giant can be seen.
With walls of flint and mortar grey,
That watched the centuries decay.

The Tudor rose has turned to dust,
The knightly swords are consumed by rust.
But still the keep stands proud and high,
Against the weeping, cloudy sky.

The ravens call from ivy deep,
Where kings and queens are forced to sleep.
The moat is still, the drawbridge fast,
A perfect prison for the past.
