I did end up making the list of indie social media! (I included things that I personally would not consider as falling under the realm of "social media" here, too, like video-sharing and instant messaging)

I saw this pop up and shared it with some friends! Very nice.

Lovely stuff! I've bookmarked the site, having enjoyed perusing a few of the existing lists already. I'd be interested in an invite if it's not too much trouble, although I'm a little bit busy currently, so it might be a little while before I actually get around to creating a list. That said, when I do, I'm thinking of perhaps compiling a list of helpful resources for running tabletop role-playing games!

I don't really have a linklist to contribute (yet!) but this is such a cool website. Instant bookmark. Can't wait to go down the rabbit hole of some of these lists.

I'm getting ready to open up registration more broadly here soon, but I have a few more collaboration features to build before that. Hoping some time in the next couple weeks. Big thanks to everyone who has created lists or enjoyed browsing them so far, it means the world to me to have people using my silly software. :)

Hello! I would also like to join linklists! I have a lot of Japanese learning resources compiled, and I also want to make my own lists of things like "creative/silly/interesting things people have made with the wikipedia api" and "daily puzzle games with playable archives"

you know what this project reminds me of? something cool i found recently: one of the oldest websites in existence, links.net, a website link aggregator. site owner justin just provided links to various websites he liked. it's definitely not up-to-date, but it's a fun time capsule into how the web used to be, before google... you know, ruined everything...

but enough bemoaning big tech, because i'm here to say that what you and your volunteers are doing with the linklist project is fantastic. thanks for keeping the spirit of web discovery alive

I just launched a pretty big change: invites are no longer required. Instead, when you join a linklist, your account is put in a pending state until the admin (or anyone they give permission to via groups) approves the account. I'm hoping this'll lower the barrier to entry to contributing to existing linklists a little bit without fully opening the floodgates, especially with bots. I put some bot prevention in place but I think it'll take some tweaking, so my apologies if your linklists get any spam registrations while I'm working out the quirks!

This also applies to linklists.net and creating linklists, so now anyone can join without an invite and I'll review the registration and approve it. More info in patchnotes if anyone is curious.

I'm a huge CCS fan, browsing this site was fun. :D It inspired me to make a fansites linklist: https://fansites.linklists.net/ It's bare bones now but I'll add more to it over time.

I'm not sure if this is something you're interested in, or maybe it could be something to do in the future, but you could also look into implementing MelonLand Passports so that forum members can log in directly without having to be approved first:
