Also, what's your guys opinion on the no tracing 3D models rule. I'm kinda indifferent about it as art fight is meant to be a competition. Maybe they could've implemented the rule better (like deducting points if people trace on 3D references rather than banning it) but people are overreacting IMO. If I'm missing something here let me know.
oh dang, first I've heard of it. (I'm not participating this year, though) I would not want to receive art that was traced from photos, memes, bases, or 3D models. It looks lazy to me. Tracing says, "I quit, I don't care, and I don't want to improve; I just want to post it already." However... I recognize not everyone feels the same. I don't think a blanket ban is the best way to handle it. Give each user a toggle box or space to declare whether they're okay with it, same as opting out of gore/nsfw/anything else. Some of us are snobs, but we can't hold everyone to that standard. it's supposed to be a fun event for everyone!

I would not want to receive art that was traced from photos, memes, bases, or 3D models. It looks lazy to me. Tracing says, "I quit, I don't care, and I don't want to improve; I just want to post it already." I think the validity of tracing depends on what someone's using it for along with proper credits (if needed). For example, I remember sometimes drawing my own characters onto images from Pinterest, 3D models, or those draw the squad memes from the 2010s when I was a kid not out of laziness, but to be more capable of drawing something like those in the future. I didn't understand how anatomy worked at all -- because I was a kid, y'know -- and I'd say those aided in my understanding of it now, even though my own art is so very, very stylized. There's also people I've seen trace parts of an image and then freestyle the rest. I suppose its handiness with aiding someone's understanding of how to draw something depends on what's being traced along with who's doing it (I used to trace perspective shots, but I found out I'd rather just look at a tutorial... ). However, I get what you're saying. I personally don't know how to feel about it, but I agree with you that there shouldn't be a site-wide ban. Maybe the admins will consider tweaking it in the future?
