I've been trying to sort this out for a while and I still do not know how to get it to work properly. I've been fiddling around with the text colour options in forum posts and profiles on the site, but it seems that the colour auto changes to a darker tone than the one you set it to. Not sure why, but it bothers me as I have a specific colour scheme for my username, schlime9k, but the hex codes on the actual text are different to the hex codes of that which is stated when making the post.

This is seen in the HTML, where there are two different colour variables for coloured text, --td and --tl, with --td being the original colour and --tl being the darkened version (weird that those feel backwards, where D and L should be short for 'dark' and 'light' respectively but are in fact opposite, I'm too hung up on that...). Anyway, the real text colour is automatically set to whatever the hex value --tl is, and I've been trying to come up with solutions on how to change that but I just can't get one to work properly... Anyone else ran into this issue and have been able to fix it, please help a netizen out!!!  :mark: :mark: :transport:

I also use roots and it works. For you, it most likely isn't applying because you need to put !important. For example,

Code
background-color: var(--txt) !important;

This is my entire style if you want to use as reference
Code
:root {
    --bgd:#f0eee9;
    --txt:#5d4b3c;
    --acc:#a05460;
    --ent:#aac5cb;
    --sec:#e29cac;
    --mix:color-mix(in srgb, var(--bgd) 50%, var(--acc));
}

body{font-family:Menlo, Consolas, Monaco, Adwaita Mono, Liberation Mono, Lucida Console, monospace !important;
}

#theme-melon .catbg tr,
#theme-melon .catbg,
#theme-melon .catbg3,
#theme-melon .catbg a:link,
#theme-melon .catbg a:visited{
  background-image: none;
  background-color: var(--txt) !important;
  color: var(--bgd)!important;
}
#theme-melon .content, #left_admsection, #super_quotes_facebox .close{
  background-color: var(--bgd) !important;
  color: var(--txt) !important;
}
a:link, a:visited{
color:var(--acc) !important;
}
.melon_super_background {background-color:transparent !important;}
td .melon_super_background{border:0px solid !important}

No yeah, I did definitely do that, it still doesn't work... I tried adding my own variable, I tried changing the color of the text so that it uses --td, and added !important on all my own code, but it still doesn't want to work!

I always check inspect element, and it always shows the exact same thing:
Code
element {
  --td: #ffec00;
  --tl: #8c8200;
  color: #8c8200;
This is melonland's own code, as well, not mine. I'm not adding these --td and --tl variables, I'm just trying to use them for my own needs, or overwriting them so that I can make my profile look like what I want it to!

EDIT: I GOT IT TO WORK!!

What to do: Change the colour inside the ".melon_colour" class which I only found now to the --td variable! Hope this helps anyone finding this thread! Thank you so much for your comment @chilblands !
