I'm wanting to experiment with vectorheart because I don't really like doing 3D stuff rn. I'm thinking of making basically a vector version of the album art of Bittersweet by Jamie Paige (see attachment). and eventually making a small series of musical artist wallpapers. Are there any tutorials or tips I should look for?

I did create a folder containing Vectorheart and other Y2K aesthetic examples if that helps. I posted it here since the deskgen threads didn't receive a reply.

First I would probably find some already made graphics of just random symbols and shapes. I've found some by typing "Y2K vector graphics" into google. Maybe find some suitable fonts also.

I found a playlist full of tutorials you can view

You can also download a fractal program to make the fractals and use a threshold filter to turn them into flat vectors. I'm sure people already made a bunch of fractals you can download online.

I would recommend to learn a 3D software to make the fractals tho since you'll have more flexibility.

For the image you wanna recreate. I would make the character a flat cut out image and the splatter a fractal with the white doodles being vector symbols instead

i know that in krita you can make something called a 'vector layer' (as opposed to a traditional raster layer that edits things pixel by pixel) which you could use to create vector images! MM's idea of finding some free assets to work off of is deff something u should still do though. you could import them and then create your own assets w/in krita. iirc its some basic line/shape tools.

& if you can afford to drop some dough i know clip studio paint has a feature where you can use any of the available brushes on a vector layer to turn them into a vector asset, but im not really sure if that's a level of texture/complexity your aiming for.

can you expand on this? idk much about vector art and genuinely have like no idea what your talking abt i'd love to know more  :wizard:

Fractals are mathmatically generated shapes that recurses infinitely. They don't really serve any purpose other than to look pretty.

They are use a lot in different graphic design as they're very chaotic and they take very little time to produce.

The most popular example is the mandelbrot set:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/21/Mandel_zoom_00_mandelbrot_set.jpg/250px-Mandel_zoom_00_mandelbrot_set.jpg?utm_source=en.wikipedia.org&utm_campaign=parser&utm_content=thumbnail

It's not too prominent in vectorheart art but here's some examples:

image-19.png in the OPs references is an example as well.

From a quick search JWildFire seems pretty good as a fractal generator

ohhhh i see. i knew about literal fractals but i didn't realize that these patterns could also be mathematically generated to be used in art like this, i always just assumed they were drawn in by hand or photo-bashed with simpler pre-made assets. pretty cool!
