I'm still trying to figure out some truly interactive things to add once I revamp/restyle my website over the next few weeks... but while not DIRECTLY interactive or silly fun, I always make sure to add functionality that is good for folks who have "reduced motion/animation" turned on on their computers. Like my fun little stamp marquee at the bottom of my site that not only pauses where you hover [exactly where it was at instead of breaking and going back to the beginning] those with reduced motion on it moves slower AND  I even edited some of the stamp gifs to be slower/more friendly to photo-sensitivity.

Outside of that I mostly just add interactive style elements.. same with adding themes, [you can choose light or dark mode on my site and I FINALLY was able to make it stay between sites.. I think. So far it's worked for me and a couple friends but we all use firefox :p] and then thinks like hover effects. I also have a cute little firework animation whenever people click around. [if I haven't accidentally broke it yet haha]

It's hard for me personally to try to think of things that are fun, charming, interactive, and accessible, because I try to go too big or end up making things that are a nightmare to traverse with keyboard only (┬┬_┬┬) one day I'll get more interactive stuff.. been to busy doing other things.

My websites are almost entirely static, and I intend for it to stay that way. The qualities of being maintenance-free and devoid of security hole by design, are important for something like personal website that I want to make and show, but don't maintain professionally (read: don't get paid to do so). (1)

Nevertheless, there are some interactive parts:

And I do plan to add some more in the future:

  • Fortune cookies/random-a-quote: not for sillies; these are serious stuffs I hope people pay more attention to.
  • Hypertext puzzles: basically videogame in a form of server-side CGI or tons of pre-generated HTML files, that required no client-side script.

In any case, I don't ever plan to add guestbook to my site. (2) If people wanted to write nice things to me, they are encouraged to Just Use Email (TM) for that instead.

(1) Thus I have to be able to afford neglecting the sites for months or years (and only keep paying for domain and hosting); without me finding it becoming infested with pests or crashing down into rubble once I came back.

(2) A guestbook will become another place that'd need constant attention to stand guard and deal with spam/destructive comments. Artificial Idiot agents running amok in the wild is also not helping the issue at all.

I have jigsaws, sudoku, memory game and there's a chance that you will find a random sticker when opening a page.
